Advice on E92 Auto

Hi,
Totally new to this forum and the E92 UK 06 model.

I have a couple of questions:
1) I heard that if you've selected a drive gear you can't change whilst driving i.e. gotta stop before changing to DS or manual even? Don't have flappy paddles. Is this true? Can I change from D -> DS at any speed? Or manual into D/DS?
2) No ipod connection in car but there is an aux port. Can I buy a kit to retro fit this myself? Would love to chang tracks using multi-fn steering controls.

Thanks!

1) You can change it on the fly (drive)
2) You can, not sure of the various options but one is called "MOST"
