BMW E92 Steering wheel paint

I need some help fellas. The paint on my steering wheel is starting to peel off and the car is only 3 years old. I called my sales advisor and he mentioned it should be covered under warranty. My question is will they be replacing the plastic part of the steering wheel or the whole thing? I installed a BMS sprint booster and wondered if I need to uninstall it if the whole steering wheel will be replaced. It doesnt make sense that they will be accessing the ECU when replacing the wheel, but I wanted to get everyones feedback. Thanks in advance.

My car is a little over a year old and the paint around the steering wheel volume controls is peeling off. I plan on having the dealer replace it next time I take my car in for service.

What's the point anyway? You get it replaced under warranty....Ok sure I get that.

Then what?

Another 1-2 years and it's doing the same thing and your car is now out of warranty.

BMW really needs to re-evaluate their quality rather than replacing the same thing with the same old crappy product. (What else does that sound like? Oh yeah HPFP.)

They Replace the whole plastic part. Mine did the same thing after a year of owning it. My SA told me not to use chemicals, such as armor all when cleaning my car on those plastics. He said just use water becuase the chemicals eat the coating they put on the plastics.

Thanks everyone! It is kind of sad to see that the paint is already stripping and the car isn't even that old. I can see your point in why even replace the part, but its just bothering the sh** out of me.

I had the paint inside the Roundel on the steering wheel chip (how embarrassing is that for BMW!), and the driver armrest plastic tray peal. They were replaced 10 months ago under warranty in my 2 year old car. So far so good. Actually this sort of peeling (armrest tray for example and steering wheel) was much worse in my e46 330Ci. Actually, the e90s generation has been an improvement.

Its annoying, agreed. No car is perfect. BMW may do better in the upcoming F series? Just replace it, its free.
