Lease is ending!!! Help
I have a '07 335i coupe and the lease is ending in April. Went to dealer saw a '10 model with M sport package and BMW peformance kit. It looked great but don't know if is worth the money for that kit! Should I get the '10 model or wait for 335is. I'm also pondering if I should even get the coupe is like having the same car again? Any suggestions

For me it would be an easy choice going from an e90 330i to an e92 335i or even e92 M3.
In your situation.. I would definitely save up for an M3, do you have a card to use while you wait?

The iS with DCT is the way to go, if they could only sell it without the expensive 313 wheels at a price $3000 lower, it would be great
If you want a manual gearbox the 2010 M-Sport sedan with Power Kit is a very nice option...looks aggressive and more up to date than the e92 facelift, let alone e92 without facelift.

My suggestion is to buy a more affordable car. What is gained in making 3 years of lease payments, only to get the same car again? That seems to me to be 6 years of payments, to drive a car that looks the same. Actually, it is the same.
I've heard the arguments before, I can't go from a 335 to a Sonata. Why not? |

Yeah I know what you mean, stepping up to an M3 is a big jump. I would definately would have to save a little dough. That 335i '10 did look more agressive with the M package and peformance kit. I guess I'll wait to see the IS see how that looks, but I need a car to get to and from work so it's crunch time. The one I looked at in the dealer was black on black waooooooo.

You can't lease an M3 for anything near a 335 - you're in two completely different leagues, even if MSRP is similar. The M takes a huge depreciation hit in the first year. I think many here would be shocked at what it takes to drive an M3.

335i/is VS M3 .... is like night VS day. Can't compare the two. If you drove both, you'd know what I mean.

Its not that much of a jump really. When I was shopping cars a few months back it was a $250 difference in payments on a 36mo lease. 335 was $600/mo including taxes and the M3 was $850 w taxes. Insurance is quite a bit more on the M3, but the payment didn't "shock" me. Both coupes and both well equipped.

.... $1100 a month on a car lease is a lot by any standards.

it's a lot for a (don't flame me lol) 'juiced up 3 series"
but nothing when looking at a S class which costs around 100k, or a SL, or a Porsche C2 :P

Or a Bugatti, or a mansion, or open heart surgery....
It's a lot of money, period.

What is gained in making 3 years of lease payments? About the same thing that is lost when you buy an expensive car, sell it after 3 years, and get handed 50 to 60% of what you paid - the use of a car. It costs money to have the use of a car regardless of whether you're buying or leasing it. Not everyone wants to save up for years and commit to owning a car for the length of time it takes to lessen the cost of ownership to the point where buying makes clear financial sense, especially given what it costs to repair and maintain a BMW. +1 on the comments on 335 vs. M3 leases, they're not even in the same universe with the current terms. An M3 is a more expensive car and the leases have lower residuals and a higher cost of funds. An similarly optioned M3 and 335 under the current terms will be $300-500 a month apart in monthly payment all things being equal. Good luck with the decision OP. |

+1, also lease terms on 135 coupes are very, very good right now. I expect the dealers want them gone before the '11 models (which are a bit cheaper with the value pack and will have the DCT) hit the ground.
