squeeking noise from back of car at low speeds
i've been noticing something on my 335i coupe recently, when i've been driving, especially at low speeds, i.e. indoor parking lots, school zones... and it's relateively quiet, i can hear a squeeking noise from whats seemingly the back/middle area of my car. now it is not the breaks, which are relatively new (more importantly, i am not breaking when the car squeeks). i know it could be a variety of things, i'm just trying to narrow down the possibility to know what to possibly look for, and bring to the attention of my mechanic. also, the squeeks are often in intervals, instead of one long "squeeeeeeeek" it's more like "squeek squeek squeek". i'm a VERY aggressive driver, but also competed at amateur racing events so i don't do anything the car handle, i haven't banged it against any corners on turns or slammed bumps or driveways (which a few of my friends have and they had suspension and axle issues).
anyway, any ideas?!?! i have a slight case of OCD and it's really driving me crazy. |

Rear brake dust buildup will cause it also. Use some compressed air to get it reduced.

07E92TT, Isn't necessarily the outside or inside. Romiie, OP says its not breaks because it happens without breaking. |

Squeaking brakes (even while not braking) is common on the 335. So it very well could be that, but what the OP is describing could also be the stupid plastic shelf in the back.

thank you for all the info guys, i see that many can relate, and yes, i'm about to go f'in MENTAL. first thought was the breaks, but since i am not breaking when the sound occurs, i completely ruled it out. break pads are a possibility, but it only been a few thousand miles since the last change. i had also tried clearing the break dust/buildup. i will take a long hard look at it tomorrow, since it is definitely coming from outside of the car.
someone described that it could be the rear door seals, but it's definitely from outside of the car, the lower end, possibly close to the bottom. it's starting to sound like my worst fear has been put to rest - that it was the suspension, because i really do drive the shit out of this thing. i'll trouble shoot and update. thanks again. |

where you located in ca? maybe find a forum member to ride in your car while you drive so that you can get a second opinion. lots of us have had to deal with ridiculous squeaks and rattles and know what the common sources are.

glendale, ca... just a few miles from los angeles. i sat my girlfriend next to me with the windows down and she heard it and said let it be because i'm "OCD"... mind you she drives a JEEP lol. sat my brother next to me and it drove him crazy too, i've been messing with so many things, and it just doesn't go away... i'm hoping it has something to do with the breaks because it sounds like its coming from the wheels, i might ahve to wait until it's service time to see if that's it... until then, i turn up Rise Against or Rage when i drive in parking lots and slow residential areas.
