CPO with non-OEM wheels?
Does anyone know if a car could be CPO even with non OEM rims? I'm looking at a 330i that has a non OEM rims and it's CPO. One of the members on this site mentioned that, that might not be legal... Just want to check. If not, at least I have something to bargain with during negotiations.

CPO applies to all mechanical pieces of the vehicle. That's why BMW makes you pay extra if you want a warranty on your wheels/tires.

In Canada, the wheels AND tires must be on the BMW approved list for the car to be CPO. The tread must also be above a certain limit.
I doubt it could be CPO with non-OEM wheels.

It can NOT be a BMW CPO car with aftermarket wheels and tires installed. It might be a "certified pre-owned" vehicle on a dealer specific program, but not covered by BMWNA with aftermarket wheels.

Check out the inspection report requirements in Section 2.
It states "all mismatched and/or non-approved safety related components with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) BMW parts must be replaced to meet CPO requirements." http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...ification.aspx

Good thing I asked.
I don't understand the difference between the two... BMW CPO vs "CPO" vehicle on a dealer specific program? Do you mean that it's certified just for their dealership? It states right on their site that it's a CPO. I better talk to them about it. I'll use it to get the price down. I personally don't mind that they replaced the tires with non-RTF but would like the OEM rims.

Don't blindly trust the CPO program. A few years back I bought a "CPO" X5 from the dealership and when I sold it, 3 years later, turned out it had several "accidents" that showed up on the CarFax. When I bought the car the report was clean, the damages didn't appear until months after I bought the car.

CPO doesn't mean that it hasn't been in an accident. If it is fixed to BMW standards at a BMW approved shop, then it can be CPO.
And yes, dealerships can call it certified pre-owned and offer an independent warranty as well. The only way to get a BMW CPO car is from a certified BMW dealer. That vehicle will come with an additional 2 year of warranty or 50,000 miles/80,000 km, with a small deductible to use the service. I think it is $50 CAD per visit up here, but I woudl have to check out paper work.

If it's indeed BMW CPO then it will show up on CarFax. Shady dealers often have their own "certified" program which is not backed by the automaker.

I checked the CarFax and it does show that it's a BMW Certified Pre-Owned. Maybe they allow it if it's safe and a BMW approved brand?

Hey man, do you have a link to the car on the dealer's website?
