Advice on No License Plate Ticket

Hey Guys!
I've been lurking on this forum ever since I bought my 2009 335i back in August but this is my first time posting.

So anyways I was hoping you guys could give me some advice.
Two weeks ago I was parked in Hollywood and got a ticket for parking during street cleaning (that was totally my fault, I didn't read the sign). I also got another ticket for not having a front license plate on the front of my car.

However I DO have a license plate on the front of my car! Its just on the right side (I have a tow hook mount thingy). They're charging me 25 dollars

I contested the ticket in writing and they said they would reduce it to 10 dollars if I get a cop to sign off that I have a plate on my car.
My issue with all of this is that I did initially have a plate and I don't want to pay for something that I didn't do. Just because some meter maid was to lazy to really check my car I'm being made to pay 10 dollars?

Arghhh!
I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on what I should do. Should I just roll over and pay them? Blaahhhh.

There's not really any way to prove that you did have the plate on when the ticket was written.

contest it and ask for photo evidence showing the whole bumper with no front plate. the last time i got a front plate ticket, they hand wrote "photo taken" on the citation. i've never tried to call their bluff bc in reality, i did not have a plate. however, if you really did have a plate on, you should make them prove that you did not when they gave you the ticket.

If you have a receipt for the tow hook prior to the ticket I would go to court. If you have a picture of the car with it on dated prior I would go to court.

I know the parking authority on campus in Austin, TX takes photos of the cars in violation. In the end, it's a civil issue - the burden of proof is not on them. Sort of the same thing as the ticket cameras.

I would still fight it or at least cause a big fuss.

I have found that the problem with fighting it is then you have to spend time going to court AND you have to pay court costs even if you win which are usually higher than the ticket in the first place. My advice is ignore the principle of the matter and cut bait and run. Sad to say but true.

You're probably better off paying the $10 instead of trying to prove that you had a front plate...

i'd say just pay it and leave it alone. Not like it's that much anyways. I understand it's the whole idea of having to pay and all but, dang what can you do. It's a waste of time and effort to save that 10$

I guess I'll end up paying, between school and work I don't have the time or money to go to court.

Do you guys know how I can get a police officer to sign off on the form saying I have a front plate? Do I stop off at my local PD and just walk in?

Yeah, just show the original ticket at a station, I'm sure the citation can be pulled up. They you can use that extra $15 for food or something
