I hate people who don't clean off their cars for the same reason. I switch lanes on purpose to get out of the path of flying snow and ice. Never know how hard it's going to hit or what the snow hides.

Hope you get it fixed up right. How big is the crack?

Well from wat i can see it started as a 1/4 inch little crack but, I think due to the below freezing temp in VA, its spiderwebed to about a foot. OVERNIGHT!!!!!!

Call your insurance company. Comprehensive usually covers the windshield for free, or at most a $50 deductible. That's how my State Farm works.

Man, cracks in the windshield always suck! Dunno how true this is, but a buddy of mine only cleans his windshield, windows, and a little layer of the snow off his car. He says if you push off the entire pack of snow it can scratch your clear coat? But I'm sure most people are just lazy.

Well Im sure you know about this snowfall the mid atlantic got since it says your from MD. I dont think it is an issue of scratching you paint or not. My windshield was cracked fine nothing $600 wont fix, but it becomes a saftey issue. What if all that snow falls off and makes someone crash. Im sorry I love my car and baby it but no scrtach on my roof is worth someones life.
So i agree and lean more towrd the lazy factor.

Oh trust me I know about this snow lol. I'm fed up with all of it. I heard that its illegal in MD to drive around with snow on your car. But maybe I was lied to cause I see everyone with 2 feet of snow on their roof..

Probably not lied to, it is a law in Connecticut also. People are dumb/lazy/short so there are countless reasons why they may have left snow on their car.

I'm guilty, although i don't have ice/chunks of snow on my car. I do'nt brush snow off down to the paint due to scratches. But It's usually just powder that i leave on top. I have seen people leaving ice chunks on top of cars which fly off. I just tend to follow way behind. I tend to not tail gate others during the winter, they kick up salty grime from the roads and the whole ice chunk thing.

Everyone is just lazy... My stupid soccer mom neighbor was driving around with a foot of snow on top of her mini van last week.

Biggest issue around here are the trucks that never clean off their trailers. About 2 months ago, a guy got blinded by a piece of ice that fell of a truck in front of him and went through his windshield.
