Q?: Style 158 wheel pic / Winter tire package
Hello all:
I just spoke to my dealer (Prestige Mahwah NJ) about winter tires. I have a 335i coupe and the servive advisor recomended, well actually said my only option was to get from the dealer, as per BMWNA bulliten : Bridgestone Blizzak LM25RFT 's mounted on Style 158 : $637 each With mounting : $2,600 +tax $182 = $2,782 Anyone have an opinion on this whell / tire package for the 335i coupe? Seems steep in price and I dont remember what the 158's look like but I'm a newbe to the costs of owning a BMW. ~Frost

You should look for a used set of those and pay way less. I don't think I'd be the only person to tell you $2,800 for winter tires/rims is insane. You can find a used set of rims for 600-1000 and then new blizzaks from tire rack for like 600, save yourself some money, unless you like throwing it away. If that's the case throw some this way haha.

......
My concern is I have the tire and wheel insurance package from my dealer so I hav eto work out what that covers. I would like to see some more pics of the 158's anyone have a pic of them mounted? not sure how they would look on the E92? Alternatively I could get snow tires put on my 18's but I dont know weather that would void any warranty I hve with the car... sheesh Frost

The first few pictures are of the 158's on the coupe http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18073
We get the same wheel but with the LM22 RFT's - all for about the same price but in CDN$ - so about 10% cheaper than you. You might want to try to get your dealer to give you a better price or get the wheels from bwmwheels.com and the tires from the tirerack and have your dealer mount it. I think i will get the same set. |

Chalk me up as part of the "$2800 is too much to spend on your winter wheels" crowd. Get the winter package (tires and rims) from Tire Rack. Forget the tire insurance -- for the difference in price, you can buy seven or eight EXTRA of those tires(!). Not that you'd ever need to, but the point is, that should be insurance enough.

Don't do it!! Buy from Tirerack and since your in the US you can buy the roadhazzard warrenty from them for the winter tires. You can get decent rims and great winter tires for around $1200 USD. I ordered the ASA JH3s and Dunlops M3 RFs and paid~1800 from Tirerack in Canadian$.

They are charging WAY TO much for them.
If you are stuck on the style 158 wheels, you can get them here for $270ea..... http://www.bmwwheels.com/bmwwheels_d...158&Series=E90 The tires can be bought from Tirerack for $636 for all four. That's only $1,716 and then add about $100 for the certificates and shipping. That's still $1k less than what they are offering.....

I also recommend the tirerack solution.
Here's my 158's to ASA-JH3 conversion pics for winter if you're curious. (I can put up more 158 pics from the fall if you can't find them elsewhere) http://picasaweb.google.com/gospadin Edit: Oh, and it was $1168 + shipping ($103), the changeover took about 30 minutes.

I like the look, the 158's look so much better on pics of the car that the wheels looks by itself in a picture... almost like all of BMW, pictures do not do justice to a 3D object with surfacing like the 158 wheels... ~Frost
