Recommendations - re-finish?
Does anyone have any recommendations for getting wheels touched up or refinished?
I have a set of (auth) ACS Type IV's and over the last 6 months they have gotten a little dinged up... edge scratches, chips in the finish, etc. I have my BMW dealer putting a set of winter tires on my stock 18's and will be swapping out my Type IV's for the winter. Does ACS have a program to send in the wheels to be touched up or recommend any specific company? I would be willing to ship them anywhere and have them made perfect again while I have these 4-6 winter months not using them. Any suggestions are appreciated.

A company called TransWheel will refinish them. They have facilities in many parts of the country. I bought a refinished set of 161s that came through them and the wheels like close to new. Their website is www.transwheel.com.

If you want them refinished you can find any local place and check to see if they refinish wheels. i know of about 2-3 places in the area by me that will do this kind of stuff. Make some calls and spend some time asking around
If you just want to touch up the wheels be carefull. Depending on the paint or finish that is on the wheels now it might be virtually impossible to get the right color match. By breyton Visions were impossible to match, unless i wanted to spend $400 on just the paint alone. You can also check some body shops to see is they would be willing to sand blast them, and repaint them, you would probalby have to pick out custom paint though. Dupont has a line of chromabase paints they are very metallic and very nice looking. For a Crazy expensive finish look at ALSAcorp www.alsacorp.com for their chrome or GhostChrome paint. |
