how come some of the e92 have idrive screen but some dont?

becuase they didn't buy Navi and got a TomTom lol well thats what I did....saved abt $2K but lack an awesome looking screen :-(

I'd rather have a nuvi since it tells me where red light cameras are as well as everything else (POI's)

what? is that y? u only get the idrive screen if u buy the sat nav? thats a bit silly isnt it...? so if u dont buy the sat nav, u wont get those radio selection on screen, u cant have aux output to watch movie on idrive etc etc? no way. thats bad, i hate that man.

i better find one that has an idrive screen :P

Someone who's an insider on the forum previously posted that:

Back when they introduced the E9X series, many people didn't want iDrive. So they had to make 2 different types of dashes. And they had to attach to the Sat Nav with the iDrive to make it worth while, economics-wise.

For future 3-series, you'll be able to get iDrive without Sat Nav.

Many people on here get the Nav just to get the iDrive features.

If you're going iDrive, the latest generation is a major upgrade from the one before, so get a '09, '10, or '11 one.

it comes with i-drive which is optional....not the same car without it though.
