How much do you think the dealer would charge for this?

I asked my salesman and he wouldn't entertain the idea. I guess I should ask the service dept.

I don't know if they would do it but i am pretty sure that someone with a 325i might possibly want to trade it with you.

BMW service wil do it for you if you want, but be prepared to pay ! It will probably be alot easier to do it with another forum member here, just find a 325 owner and do a trade. Its fairly easy to remove those trims, its snap-on snap-off kind of thing.

I would trade but you are in the midwest, that could be a problem.

I am looking to swap the chrome grill for my black grill as well.

I find it fascinating how BMW decides what is and isn't an upgrade. When I got my 2002 3.0 X5, black trim was part of the premium package, or maybe the sport package, and now on the E90, the 325 get what they considered to be the more desireable black trim on the X5 and the 330 gets the chrome.

Chrome....It's the new black!

In europe 6 Cylinder or 8 Cylinder cars have always gotten chrome, while the 4 Cylinder ones get matt black

Glosss black is generally for //M models or M Sport models

I got mine done today...the total with dealer installation was a little bit under $500. Not really sure if it's worth it...but I guess I'll find out soon enough.

I was waiting to see if the M-Package was going to come out in September... still have to wait a bit more.

Hi
I see you are in NoVa. We're considering doing the same thing.
Which dealer did you use?
And you went from chrome to black, or vice versa? Grill too?
Finally, you got to keep your original trim, right? You can probably get a lot of that $500 back by selling it.
Thanks.

I went to BMW of Fairfax right off Lee Highway. I spoke with the parts guy Richard Redfearn (703) 560-2300...he was a really nice guy and extremely helpful.

I went from black to chrome. I didn't do the grill this time, but I'll think about it for the future. I will get to keep my original trim which I'm sure will show up on eBay soon enough. I go to pick it up today and will post pictures soon. PM me if you have any other questions...be glad to help.

Some of us actually think the black looks better on a black car than the chrome.

well i thought about getting the 330, but being as impatient, and also getting a great deal from a friend at the dealership, i thought i'd go this route. and no, i didn't debadge it and i really don't plan on it.

I want to go from chrome to black. The chrome in my opinion doesn't fit well with the car. I don't like chrome wheels either guess that will give you guys a feel from where I'm coming from.

why? cuz its better looking. chrome is not cool, and it is not universally the "more expensive" trim. on the 5 6 7 series, the black is actually exclusive to the sports package trim, and chrome is the standard. there is nothing prestigous about the chrome trim. i have a 330 and i hate my chrome trim.

You are crazy , black window trim is 320i default. So as the black grille, also a 320i default. While I respect your personal taste, but indeed, you are spending money to downgrade your 330i. Please ensure you will retain the silver parts and make a free/good offer to our 320i owners here.
Thanks.
