cutting stock exhaust?

im getting my stock exhaust tips powdercoated and my friend said i should cut about an inch off of each tip and just sand it down, but i think hes crazy considering its messin up the stock exhaust and there wouldnt really be any sound advatage right

All you have to do is drill out the rivets and pull the tips out. Then rivet them back in place. I'd NOT take any automotive advice from that friend .

is he suggesting to cut off the rolled tips? Its not a horrible idea IMO, im not a fan of the rolled ends

not to take them off, just for the look...i dont really like the rolled tips either but idk if it would look ok and what about the sound? would it stay the same? plus im getting the tips powdercoated so i think itd look fine but im a little sketchy on this idea

i dont think it would change the sound at all, it would be all aesthetic . You should try cutting off about a 1/4 inch and sanding them, and if you dont like the look, you can easily find another set of stock tips to powdercoat from a forum member.
