when you bring your car in while under the 4-year warranty, do all dealerships...

have access to a record of the maintenance done to the car? i have 3 weeks left on my no-maintenance thing and i want to bring it to another dealership. my last oil change was back in may 09 at about 29k miles and i looked at the in-car computer and it says i shouldn't be due for another for 13k more miles or sept 2011! its ridiculous...

also, since i'm at 29k, should they do an Inspection I type of check?

Yes they do. "Low mileage" oil changes are also covered under maintenance but they are every 12 months. Your dealer "might" do it for you just before the end of the maintenance period. You also have the brake fluid flush every 2 years and maybe the pollen and air filters.

i called up the BMW dealerhsip and they said they're not able to look up maintenance done on the car unless it was done at that specific dealership. is this true?

the problem is that i bought the car used 1 year ago with 25k on it and i'm not sure if the previous owner did an Inspection I type service on it. When i bought the car, there were no maintenace reminders telling me to get service done also.

Sounds like BS to me, they should be able to see all the history as long as everything was done at a BMW dealership.

I had a low oil indicator light come on while driving through an area I had never been before, took my blackberry, found a dealer, explained the situation, they looked up my car, had all the info, topped it off no questions asked.
