winter to summer wheel swap

Back in December 2009, I bought new tires and wheels from Tirerack. The shop that swapped the wheels, put each of the wheels in its plastic bag in to the trunk and back seat. Now I need to put the summer tires back on. How would I know which tire goes where ? Also, how would I know if the wheel direction is right ? As you see I'm new to all these and would appreciate some help here.

Most if not all now have rotation direction marked on the sidewall. If your summer tire/ wheel package is staggered- easy to figure out. If not and you didn't label them with tape, then more of a guessing game. If you didn't clean them before storing, more that likely you'll have more brake dust on the fronts than the rears.

While were on the topic, is it ok to store summer tires in a cold warehouse with no heat? I know it's not recommened to drive on them in cold temps. but could summer tires get damaged because they are stored in a cold enviroment for about 4 months?

It is actually recommended that you store the tires in a cool dry place. Keep the tires in their protective bags. A basement is a good location.
