Weekend in Isle of Man - 21st/22nd April

Hi all,

At the previous two UK meets, a number of us talked about arranging a weekend away to the Isle of Man.

The UK meets are great fun, but only last a day, so we thought it would be nice (in addition to the next UK meet) to take our E90's/E91's/E92's across to the Isle of Man for a weekend and have some fun driving around the island (with no speed limit!) and have the opportunity to socialise a bit more in the evening (as we all have to drive home after the UK meets).

I'm starting this thread to gauge interest from other UK members who wish to join the "hardcore" that are expected to attend - you know who you are! Nothing has been decided yet so the trip is open to views and comments on dates, travel and accommodation. To give you an idea of travel costs, the Steam Packet ferry from Liverpool to Douglas costs about £120 for a return trip on a Friday afternoon returning Sunday.

If the UK meets are anything to go by it should be great fun and if we struggle to keep up with each other in the Derbyshire countryside then we've got no chance in the Isle of Man!!

Look forward to hearing everyone's views.

I'm up for it!

All I need is a couple of weeks notice to arrange my leave at work and to get the in-laws to have the kids.

Hopefully, should of had my DMS re-map completed by the time we go aswell.

I shall certainly be up for it, MF!
I think the best time for it will be sometime after April, next year.

Just in case any of you were wondering where I've been since coming back from Hong Kong, last month- I caught a chest infection which stopped me doing much for a couple of weeks & then I had some stuff to do for my brother's wedding, which was on Saturday.

However, I'm back now & will start posting again!

All the best.

Welcome back Viv!! Fit & healthy again! I consider you and Chris part of the "hardcore" so knew you guys would be up for it.

April next year sounds good - I'm on holiday between 7th-14th April but apart from that free.

When shall we slot in UK3? Feb/March?

Are you saying you want a UK3 meet & then a 'hardcore' meet on the Isle of Man, MF?!

You're not insinuating anyone who doesn't turn up for the Isle of Man meet, is 'softcore', are you, MF?

You know you can count me in on that one Paul. I can see it now... a line up of cars at the Bungalow, Black Hut, Marine Drive, Ramsey, Laxey, Sulby resevoir, the Calf of Man or the Point of Ayre.

Nice to have you back Viv, hopefully if travelling half-way around the world gives you a chest infection the Isle of Man should only give you a sneeze! Even you should find the nav easy over there, you can't go too far wrong before you get wet feet!

Things are slowly getting back to normal for me too. As some of you know my Gran was taken in to hospital the day before UK2. Sadly after a few weeks she passed away very peacefully. What with the funeral arrangements and starting to put everything else in order it's been a bit hectic.

Anyway... for those who might like a few pics of UK2 and the IOM (Southern100 races from 2005) I give you my little corner of the web... (it's been linked from my fin signature image for a few weeks - but I don't think anyone spotted it).

A good level of interest building! The "hardcore" are accepting as I thought, but would be great to have some new faces too such as red355.

How does the weekend of the 21st/22nd April 2007 sound? Its the weekend between Easter and the May bank holiday weekend.

Hey, welcome back Viv

April is good for me and I'll up for a UK3 met aswell.

Maybe that would also give us some time to work out the IOM trip? maybe over a curry and a pint!

Matt, sorry to hear about your nan.

I certainly do MF- that's why I thought you would have just called them 'softies' straight out!

I'm sorry to hear that about your Gran, Matt. I'm sure I speak for everyone here when I say we wish you all the best at this sad time.

As for your shots, they really are fantastic. I don't think I've yet thanked you for posting the CD of your photos (it arrived whilst I was in HK), so thanks a lot for that!

I've still not managed to get much done regarding the UK2 DVD, so I'll get onto Richard about the video footage & I might just knock something up in time for Christmas, if that's ok!

MF, Do you mean you fancy that weekend for UK3 (pre-IoM meet), or for the IoM trip itself?

Thanks Chris.

It would also be nice to meet some of the Scottish, Welsh & Irish members, if they are 'harcore' enough?!

I think we could have a good chance of getting into BMW magazine, if we can manage to pull off this IoM meet!

All the best.

Alas, the Southern Yankee will be moving back to the states sometime in the next six months. So, as much as I'd like to, I can't commit to anything ATT. It really would be a fine swan song to do an Isle of Man lap or two with this great group.

Farewell Floyd? Oh dear.

Meets just won't be the same without you there, Floyd.

I think we'll have to have a meet just to say a fond farewell to you, without a doubt.

Actually, now I'm quite looking forward to coming over to the States just to meet up with you when you organise a Sothern Yankee meet, Floyd!

All the best.

Viv,

21st/22nd April for the IOM trip. We could have UK3 in Feb/Mar?

By the way, I'm still dying to see the UK2 vid, so please ask Richard to put it all on a DVD for me, cheers.

We'll miss you Floyd! It would be great to get a few laps in with everyone, you'd love it.

We definitely have to have a farewell Floyd meet.
