328xi "deficiencies"

Just got a 328xi coupe .... great to drive but I'm surprised at some of the feature-lack ...

1. No ALARM SYSTEM.... the red button under the mirror is just for show ... my sales guy tells me that I will need to buy an aftermarket system; once it becomes available ????

2. No GARAGE DOOR OPENER .... the previous four vehicles I've owned all came with an integrated opener .... couldn't BMW provided one ?

3. No CANADIAN MANUAL .... you would think that a $50,000 vehicle would have manual that describes it's capabilities .... I'm informed, by my sales rep, that many of the features described are European only or 5xx/ 7xx only (eg. HD radio, convenience access, flat tire monitor)

Anyone else feel the same ?

from looking at pictures I was thinking I would be very disappointed at the exhaust of this car. however i was surprised to see how big they were / how they were chrome when i got my car

1. I think dealers prefer we spend the money on lo-jack instead so they make more money. The car does have an engine immobolizer, the alarm is more of a visual and audio warning for the car...

2. You need to get a 335 for the homelink I believe. Unfortunately you can't get it as an option in Canada for the 328, unless you buy a retrofit kit.

3. Comfort/Convenience access is optional on 335. We do have flat tire monitor, but not the tire pressure monitor. The manual is not regional specific, but features in the manual are 3er specific and available elsewhere.

I was disappointed that a lot of the features I wanted are not available on the 328 in Canada myself (whether it's standard or optional).

The only thing I don't like is the lack of spare tire.

In the US you don't get Cold Weather package as standard as you do in Canada.

You'll find that what the Bimmer lacks in silly amenities it makes up for in long-term ownership pleasure and it holds its value extremely well. Enjoy! BTW I just crossed 51,000kms in my 325xi and I could only be happier in a Lambo or something stupid like that.
