BMW Performance Exhaust...
Just wondering thinking about putting on BMW Performance Exhaust...sounds amazing...but just wondering how it sounds on the highway?
Travelling long distance is it loud and possibly "irritating" or does it sound similiar to the stock...... |

smooth and quiet :))
you will not notice any difference in tone in the car @ cruising speeds --
unless you roll down the window and punch it.. ive gone on multiple long trips and its as quiet as a lamb.. ive had mine since delivery ... so its broken in pretty good, it wont irrate you, or disappoint you with rumbling and droning .. have fun |

You will notice it more on the highway than the stock exhaust, but you will notice a faint sound that's coming from the back and is in no way annoying. No drone or anything upsetting.

Slightly louder than the stock at highway speeds, but overall nice sound.
I had my wife drive my car while I followed in her Prius (she's into the green thing and says that she has to balance out my carbon footprint). Nice deep rumble, no tin can rattle, and not overbearing even at WOT. The only issue I have with the exhaust is that it is super loud at start-up, takes about a minute to quiet down. Don't understand why this is... |

I assume that when the OP asked about highway impressions, he asked about the sound when cruising at a constant speed, not when accelerating.

I've also been considering the Performance exhaust my self.
From what I've seen it seems to be awesome. Just a bit pricey. Is there any information on the performance gains?

The E92 BMW performance exhaust is cheaper sicne it doesnt come with a X-pipe, since the E92 has one already.
I would guess the free flowing mufflers would give anywhere from 3-5hp? The E90 is a bit more pricey but deletes the resonator and puts a x-pipe in its place, the E90 could probably see up to 10hp gain. |
