even most of the guys on the acura board give in that the 3 series is a better car.

Kind of funny as you wouldn't see the reverse over here in nearly the same proportions.

I owned a 2004 Acura TL and cannot go into details about it. Needless to say, I no longer drive it or own it and I'm ecstatic with the replacement. I have a 330i/step/tiag/sport/premium/cold weather/navi-idrive/sat radio/black leather/poplar. This car, albeit similarly equipped about $10K more than the TL blows away the TL in every respect. I have 1600 miles and counting and I'm loving every minute of it. The TL is a nice car for the money, but with FWD and that HP, the car is overmatched. The steering is also very boosted (overboosted?) or too floaty compared to the e90. Can't discuss the other issues. In any event, I highly recommend the 330i and have owned both. (my first bmw by the way). P.S. The service is 180 degrees positive as well vs. the generally weak acura experience.

That's because everyone over here has a BMW superiority complex... (Well, not everyone).

Truth be told, the BMW is a better car, (in most ways anyway), but if you have economic concerns, the TL is probably a better bet, because it can get you from point A to point B for less money (and with more options) than the BMW. I think there are plenty of Acura drivers that would like to have an E90, but there are plenty of us that would like to have an Acura car payment. For me, however, the joy of driving my car is worth the extra money per month.

What I don't understand is how some people on this board claim that the BMW will beat the Acura on a racetrack, but then they claim the bigger brakes and greater horsepower of the 330i (over the 325i they bought instead) weren't important to them. Or they didn't get the sport package because the ride was too harsh for the kids or potholes. Oh boy. Maybe the Acura would have been a good choice for them.

The TL is a good car. But is it the car for you, well that depends. Having owned at 97 TL, 99 TL, 04 TL, I can say the car is one I would buy again. Service at Acura was weak (as someone pointed out) and to be honest, the cost to keep on the road was not cheap.

I have owned a 95 BMW E34 540, and now that was expensive to maintain ! And it was fraught with problems. Can you say Nikasil !!!

E90 is a much better driving car, handles better than my old 540, has nowhere near the torque, but as an overall daily driver, this baby rocks. And, no maintenance (really) to worry about for 3 years.

I simply cannot go into it for legal reasons. Needless to say, it worked out in a way in which I am VERY happy.
