I was just at a dealer event tonight where they launched the new 5 Series.

No test drives available but I think the car looks great inside and out.

They said it delivers 15% better fuel economy than the last 5 and it is $8K less than the last 5 when optioned out the same way.

Not sure if it will drive as tight as a 3... but for anyone looking for the one size up this car looks to be the one to get. I think it will take some 7 sales.

Nice to see BMW so on the money with the redo.

Endras BMW (was BMW Durham) unveiled theirs on Monday. Nice looking cars. They are getting bigger and bigger -- I'd swear my E90 is as big as my E34 was, and this F10 looks as big as an E32.

my dad wants the new f10 535xi but i dont think theyre coming out till fall/winter...hes been waiting on it for a while and doesnt want to want much longer. hes going to check out the E550 4matic..

I have yet to see one of the new 5's in person, but I do like the looks compared to the previous gen at least from the pics I've seen so far.

Those are 2 very different cars. E550 is "I gotz money", esp with those LED's -- but drives like a Lexus.

535xi is classy/sport



Yea the 5 is something to look forward to once I'm in my mid thirties, its an older man's car...I maintain the 3 and 5 are BMW's best cars.

IT doesn't quite have the striking artistic presence and ...shall we say uniqueness of the last 5

exactly, thats the first time i asked him...if he wanted to be driving a benz because of that image it gives off. my dad is 56, he doesnt care about sporty vs. luxury or a boat like drive (lexus) he just wants something that he likes when he drives. plus the LS,S class, and 7 series in his opinion are too big so you have either the GS, 5, E class. i told him to get a GTR or Carrera4.

Thats true, but I prefer the more simple styling of the new one versus the previous gen, it's likely because I'm getting old.

Production begins in September for the F10 xDrive FYI.

Delivery probably mid-late October.

This car will be far superior to the E550 4Matic. Especially in efficiency.

+1. 40 years old, and sticking with my 335i with Dinan stage 2.

Maybe my wife could use a 535 Touring (when they come out) or an x5 diesel.

i picked up my e550 last month. love it

but it is very different than the 5 series. i wanted something that drives like a lexus, as my e90 gives me enough sport

thats the thing. hes not a very sporty person, although he did love his 530xi even though he only had it for a short time (stolen after 5 months, got a different car after). delivery in oct is also a long time away, his current car is 4yrs old and has ~250,000km on it. one of his businesses is in welland so he drives quite a bit. he usually changes cars every 3 yrs but he was holding out for the F10...now hes tired of waiting.
