Different connectors. Different case. And different location (hint: it's in the engine bay)

I'm not sure the location of the DME is for anti-tampering purposes. But probably rather to make the engine more "modular" and reduce the amount of wiring in the harness. The connectors are also, for obvious reasons, weather proof since the DME no longer sits in an environmentally controlled compartment.

I thought it was common knowledge it's in the intake manifold. Guess that's because I took the training course on it.

It isn't in the intake manifold, but directly beneath it.

It looks to be the same ecu pic that Shiv posted...It looks as though the ecu is not only bolted by two bolts in the center, but its also bolted underneath the manifold...These screws under the manifold seems like a bitch to even get at!!
Wow what a drastic change from the N54 engine as respect to ECU tampering!

looking at this pic with Mike's picture of the N55 engine bay, looks like the DME is located somewhere underneath the middle wiper area, correct me if i am wrong.

Well, for most of us (i.e. not the tuners) the DME never has to be removed, so who cares about where its bolted too as long as the plugs are accessible.

Wow, nice pic find Racey! Crazy location they now seem to have for the ECU.

Doesn't look like the plugs are accessible at all...way in the back of the engine bay and much deeper in the compartment. I bet that pic is missing a lot of hardware that will be over top the DME placement.

Right behind the throttle body... Making it about 1000x easier to spot a piggyback.

That ecu box looks completely shielded from heat protection.
