I still think the '07 front hood design and mirrors are the best design in the e90 line.

I think I may slightly prefer the 09 refresh a little better, but they ALL look good in my book. I forgot to mention, I am looking at 335i sedans - may go 335xi, not sure though.

A buyback (eg lemon) will take a severe hit in resale and probably be harder to sell down the road.

I would think so too. The salesguy tried telling me that the title would be "all good" in IL, compared to CA - I'm like, how?!?! and asked him to email me the carfax.. he never did. I guess I'll just keep looking at CPO's only.

My way of looking at it is newer = better, and yes, CPO is absolutely necessary. Just take it from original owners of 335's who have had things repaired/replaced other than the HPFP. The fact that it's warranted to 10/120k imho means nothing if you go to the dealership and they tell you "it's normal" or "car performs as designed" or "can not duplicate problem at this time" You want to be covered.

I wouldn't look at a lemon for this reason.

Anyways, CPO vs. non-CPO really depends on the individual car. The car's condition is what should be most important. Good luck, and I hope you have fun with your purchase!

Thanks guys, I've been looking at more CPO's or some with legit carfaxes just to see whats up.

John070 - could the same thing happen with a CPO vehicle as far as the dealer saying something is normal, etc?

+1.

These cars and their maintenance are no joke, this is a must. How about an 07-08 CPO? And to answer the question, if the pumps you're asking about are the ones in 335's they issue software updates to regulate their usage so they do not overexert themselves (if the pumps have already been replaced). Added security never hurts.

I found that the buyback cars, mostly for the fuel pumps were around 7k under blue book value. Found a 09 7k mile car for 33k, but i didnt want to touch a lemon car. I got my 08 yesturday non cpo but still warranty till 08/12 and it's only got 15k miles.

BMW driving instructor told be, point blank, to stay away frokm 07 and wait for 08s to come off lease. 07 had some "growing pains." ended up with a new 08 and LOVE it.

As for buybacks....that was a car someone else hated so much, BMW bought it back. Run, don't walk away from any buyback. Why buy someone else's problem.

If you go for a non-CPO, you should out the couple thousand you save into the bank for when something breaks. Statistically, the value of the warranty (ie, what BMW expects in average CPO warranty claims) is built into the CPO price difference.

Really? I have been on here for a while and haven't heard that. In fact many of the '07's appear to have less issues than the later models. Mine is an April '07 build with 31,000 miles and not a single issue to date. The newer models have those hideous side mirrors the size of frying pan!

What's the difference between the '07 front hood design and mirrors as compared to the '08 model?

That's a good point. I'll keep looking, still not 100%...

Hey no bashing of the frying pan-sized mirrors

There is none. That started in 2009.

That's what I thought. I was a bit thrown off by the singling out of the '07 model as opposed to saying "pre-LCI model."

Yeah, that's what most tend to do. It was the first year for the 335 though, so maybe that's another reason why they are categorized that way. Don't know how that applies, but I'm just sayin'

Are you looking at Perillo? When I was searching for my 335 it seemed they had a bunch of buybacks on their lot...

Yeah, they have some really good pricing, but it appears most are the buybacks, so hard to say. One of their better deals was an 07 stick with not much in the way of options, but low mileage 20K's I think, for like $26.9K. I'm still on the fence though.. I may just keep my current car, 08 STI, and look for a "beater" DD instead. I've dumped far too much cash into the Subaru at this point.

I thought the hood was changed in 2008 with the addition of the two creases on the hood? I do remember the SUV mirrors being added later though. I could be wrong, sorry for the confusion.
