Question from a Novice on Interior Care

Hello...
Can someone please recommend some good products on cleaning the interior of the car? I have Aluminum trim with black leatherette. I used some Armor all wipes yesterday and something called Vinylex and it left oil-like streaks!! What should I use for the Aluminum trim, the black leatherette, and the dashboard (is the dashboard made of some kind of rubber?)

Thanks.

Vinylex is fine for the dash and interior bits. Don't use too much, and buff off excess after a few minutes. I avoid Armor All. Can't say about the aluminum trim ... try distilled water.

try Meguiar's vinyl/rubber protectant, non greasy. Vinelex is also good. I do not like armor all myself. Not sure about the alum trim (I have wood). If coated, some car wax might work, if non-coated some metal/aluminum polish, just some ideas.

Poorboy's Natural Look is perfect for the dashboard and all the vinyl areas. It adds a nice matte sheen that makes the car look NEW, and by new I mean straight from the dealer new.

I've heard good things about Spinneybeck leather conditioner, but I personally use Zaino. Spinneybeck is definitely next on my list.

For the trim, I'd definitely recommend plexus, a plastic polisher and protector to prevent those swirls in your wood trim. In addition, you can use plexus for the clear plastic and tint in your car.

As for overall interior detailing, make the Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer a MUST on your list--it works for everything: vinyl, leather, trim, plastic, etc.

Hope this helps you out!

Meguires makes an interior quick detailer that works pretty nice. I've been using the Sonus version of that and like it. You can use it everywhere in the interior. It even says including leather, but I have the Zanio products (Z-9 and Z-10) to handle that.

+1 on the Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer, but it apparently has limited UV protection qualities.

Zaino Z-10 works well on the dash, etc. even though they are not leather. Smells good, and leaves the matte finish intact.
