Ignition coils DIY...

I have had 2 ignition coils go bad in last 3 months. Took to dealer to have fixed and cost me $300.00 each time. Two days ago, CEL came on again with same symptoms of coil failure. This time I ordered a complete set from Tischer for 350.00 and set out to replace myself. Took me 15 minutes and all coils are new. Just letting everyone know this is an extremely simple DIY. 4 screws to remove engine cover, pull out the old coils and plug the new ones in. I wish I got paid what they get paid for 15 minutes of work!

I agree, it is a simple DIY, no one should go to the dealer to have coil/plugs replaced. Invest in a BT scan tool or Peake research tool so that you know the exact coil to replace. Here is a nice DIY link, http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=174217

So from reading your post...you spent $50 more to replace it yourself? Sounds like you ripped yourself off....Btw if your coil keeps failing (is it the same one?), I would look else where for a problem.

He spend $300 PER coil at the dealership. He had 6 coils sent to his house from Tischer for $350.
