17MM Hex

Hi All,

When I recently changed my transmission fluid in m90 E90, it tool only took an 8mm HEX, is it true that the rear differential takes a monster 17mm HEX?

Please help!

It is an internal 17MM head.

Yeah it is. I did this DYI last weekend and the cheapest place I found the drive socket is at harbor freight. I think for the set of 5mm to 21mm it was only $12! Sears wanted something like $40 for a 17mm and 14mm socket!

Weird, I went out to buy the 17mm only to find it was too big. Mine uses a 14mm hex.
