Im not sure this is at all possible...but...
I have a 2007 e92 with idrive professional, blue tooth etc, I dont have the usb port but i plug my ipod in via the aux socket. This is fine but its a pain not being able to scroll through tracks on the car idrive screen, Is this a possible retrofit to get done ...or is it one of those things that could be done but would mean taking out a second mortgage to do so.??

Ive done a few searches on the U.S site but no one seems to come up with clear answer.

It can be done but unless Anneka can do you a deal it's quite expensive.

I'm after the same thing and came to the conclusion after much research the Dension gateway 500 was the cheaper option and a far superior product.

Does anyone have one of these fitted? If so whats your opinion?

The Dension costs around £500 fitted and you can add rear screens and play video through the dash monitor.

ok im gonna wait to see if aneeka can get a price, but i spoke to the Dension guy..he used to be their uk technical manager now he has own business fitting them so knows them inside out.
the cost from him ...on my particular car is £498.00 it would have been 398 but because my idrive professional only has a front cd and no cd changer in boot (as i dont own any cds anymore) he needs to use a diagnostic machine to turn on that feature within the cars system as the Dension uses it to enable it to work.
So basically this will give me full track listings on screen and controllable via idrive and charge my ipod/phone at same time.

In addition if i pay an extra £200.00 he enables the screen to be able to play movies or videos stored on my ipod/iphone, NOT DVDs but just movies stored on ipod. However at a later date if i wanted i could buy a DVD changer and play DVDs through it. I prob would not bother with that as i can convert all my movies or daughters dvds to a format to fit on her ipod touch or my iphone.

So there you go thats all the info i have on it so far...it is quite pricey so im still deciding. if i go ahead it will be in next couple of weeks... ill let you know the results. Im just fed up of having to fiddle around changing tracks on the iphone. Just wish it wasnt so expensive oh well!...

plus im about to spend £399 quid this sat on the Evolve 295bhp remap on my car this sat so i better get saving or selling my body lol

Thats not far off what i heard, regarding the price. I have the cd changer so a bit cheaper and a dvd drive is less than a £100. I read somewhere the BMW system is around £800 just to play and charge the ipod/iphone.

Let us know how you go on anyway.

ah yeah im not going to bother adding a dvd/cd player as i just convert all my movies or daughters movies onto my or her ipod and watch through that..i had one quote for the bmw syytem that only allows the ipod to appear and be usd through the idrive but no movies at £300 including original bmw parts and labour which is cheap. but more expensive the dension is more expensive..a couple of guys i know said they thought dension not as reliable to?? oo worrying, the bmw parts are made by alpine

There are two different OEM USB retrofits for the OEM HU/iDrive, one for Profesional and one for Business. The pdf is somewhere in the forum, search for it...

ok had the dension avr and gateway fitted to car this morn...all works well i can now play movies on my screen and control my ipod.phone via idrive, also a usb port fitted if i wanted to use memory stick. Also if i wanted to ever add a reverse camera i have the leads and ports to just plug and play with this...
