My Passport radar is worthless.....

I just got my 3rd ticket....in 6 months!!! Apparently cop was hiding behind a building, and as I was going downhill the cop waited until I passed him before he turned on his radar gun which by then it was too late for me to stop.

yeah, yeah....I am gonna slow down....I am gonna drive the speed limit and piss off as many people as I can.

bummer man. not much you can do when they "instant on" you. no reaction time.

i had a passport before and got a ticket and was then persuaded to switch to valentine 1. been pretty pleased with it. i get more false positives with the v1, but that extra sensitivity is what's saved me a few times.

I have the 8500. To be honest, I don't think it matters what detector I have. The cops seem to have switched tactics. They wait in hiding and don't switch on until AFTER the car passes, which by then its too late to slow down.

And I was gonna get the VEIL for laser protection but now....I might just forgo everything and drive slow. So if you see a black e90 driving like a granny....come say hellO!

the cop didn't harass me for the detector. Actually I don't think he even noticed it. I don't even think he clocked me correctly. Cause at the time my detector went off I braked hard slowing down to the low 40s. But supposedly he clocked me at 55.

The latest economic slump tamed my driving habit, so many cops now days looking for speeders.

it was instant on. I was coming down a very steep hill (one that would require warning signs) and he caught me at the very bottom of the hill. Before

If the cops are using tactics like this it doesn't matter what kind of detector you have you're going to get nailed, it is what it is, get an attorney and salvage your losses, just the price you pay.

Jones in Bellevue charges $250. I think the traffic attorneys basically all do the same thing. They write a letter asking for all the details on the equipment used and other issues related to the case. Then they hope the law enforcement agency drops the ball on that request or that the cop doesn't show to testify.

I heard a rumor a while back that Snohomish County deputies don't get paid for traffic court time. If that's true, challenging a ticket in Sno County should be no sweat.

you need to use more than just your radar detector these days. On freeways they are obviously all useless due to lidar...but in the city if there are other cars around, your passport should be detecting the radar hits as the coppers paint other cars. If there are no other cars around that could give off the presence of the radar gun...best to just stay no more than 5 over. Again, the key is being smart about how you speed. use other speeders as the radar detectors...and keep the speed down when there are places that cops can be hiding.
