Yes you can!
There is a team on the Gumball rally who run a highly tuned 330d (or d3) which I believe sports around 300bhp (never mind the torque!) and comfortably outruns a Ferrari 355 - check out their videos:- www.antandpete.co.uk I am planning to up my 320d to around 200bhp. There are a few other forum users who are intending to do the same... Diesel Power! |

Bigman,
Who do you plan to go to for your performance upgrade. I've got a 320D M Sport on order and notice that Superchips can increase the power by 33bhp to 196bhp. Do you know anyone who can better this ? |

UK,
They didn't invalidate the warranty on the Audi TT that my mate currently has. His cylinder head gasket blew after two and a half years and 55,000 miles. Audi did the full diagnostic check and did not pick up that the ECU had been re-programmed. The work was done free of charge under warranty. If Audi cannot spot the engine has been chipped why will BMW be any better ? I guess the big question is if BMW do an update of the software, will that overwrite the chipped program and put it back to stock performance levels ? |

I thought the new chip just sat in parallel with the old one disconnected??
I.e - you have a problem, you take the new chip out and go back to the old. Anyone confirm this? |

SOme info I received from a recent enquiry re chips.
Thanks for the enquiry, I have had about 5 e-mails in 2 days about the same car! Yes we have the units in stock, I'll put them on the website today I think, it's the same unit and lead as the 120d 163bhp. The gains are as follows - BMW 320d 163 PS E90 163bhp 188bhp 340nm 390nm CRD-System CDI2 It’s a plug in system, and very easy to fit on that engine, removed in the same way for service and repairs. The unit comes with our 30 day refund offer and 3 year warranty. Any tech support required via e-mail or phone to get you up and running successfully. I’ll list the unit this morning on the BMW data page, or you can order the 120d 163 unit - and advise us it’s for the 3 series when you get to the ‘additional info’ box on the customer details page. Or you can ring and order 0845 686 5000. P.S - No1 tuning magazine Max Power rates our products too - MAX Power Review 12/2004 Regards, Ade Dragon Performance U.K Limited www.mrhoot.com Dragon Performance U.K Limited, registered in England no. 49877568 , 12 Liverpool Terrace, Worthing, West Sussex BN11 1TA. I would be very interested in buying a chip that gave better performance for the 320d - if anyone buys the Dragon chip could they post feedback on improvements and how easy it is to fit and remove.. thanks

A guy that I work with has a 120d with the 163 bhp engine that is in the 320D.
He had his chipped at Superchips on Tuesday. They re-programmed the existing chip via the diagnostic serial port and upped the power to 196bhp. Cost was £500 and they claim that he will see a gain of 2 to 3 mpg as well as better performance The power delivery is really smooth and the torque is amazing. Their website is www.superchips.co.uk |

There seem to be 2 real options: re-programming from Superchips (£400-500) or the dragon box (£300).
Will BMW know you have re-programmed when you take it for a service? Anyone test driven the new 330d? It packs some 240bhp now. |
