What Pain & Frustration Looks Like
**UPDATE ON PAGE 5**
My girlfriend and i decided that it would be fun to go out to a nearby lake about 15 minutes or so from town to walk the dog and enjoy the beautiful day that we had today on our May long weekend. We get out to about 5 minutes away and we are traveling down some secondary road at about 110km when i realized the road was turning into gravel and i hit the brakes, hit the gravel hard since there was a bit of an incline from the pavement to the gravel, car skid a bit and i looked up and saw a big ass hole in the road and hit that hard with the 2 wheels before i could completely stop. Not sure what speed the impact was at but as you can see, it was enough to break both wheels like nobody's buisness. It doesn't help that the tires are low profile and they 19" wheels. Immediately the low pressure and flat tire lights pop up. I notice the tire pressure screen pop up on the i-drive screen with all 4 tires displayed in yellow. I didn't even know what to say right after it happened, my first reaction was to get mad and go outside to see the damage. I look at the drivers side first and notice that its alright. I go over to the passenger side to find 2 cracked rims split in 2. The rubber seems to be okay but as soon as i took a close look at those wheels, i couldn't believe how easily and severely they had broken. I called a tow truck, waited for about an hour and a half because they needed a flat deck since the car is so low and i didn't want to take any chances. The tow truck driver gets there, asks me what happened and i explain to him that we ran into the gravel road pretty quick and then hit that patch of shitty road. He tells me that he has never seen wheels crack that bad and says "Damn i thought BBS wheels were pretty good?" i can't help but laugh and i tell him that they are just replicas and not real BBS wheels. He tells me that it doesn't matter what brand the wheels are, that they shouldn't have cracked open the way they did given what had just happened. After getting back into town it was a real pain in the ass to get the car back in the garage because of the incline and the lack of space to move the tow truck around. The tow truck driver runs out of ideas after he getting stuck. He calls a more experienced driver and tells him on the phone.. "i got a 2010 M3 here, its pretty much on the ground i need your help" After a while they manage to get it in okay. They head off on their way and now im stuck with a car that i can't drive for a while. I scratched the bottom of the bumper pretty good but you can't really see it unless you look under. Both right wheels are completely fucked! If you look at the pictures you can see the massive cracks where they split off into 2 pieces. Getting the car into the garage made me extremely nervous! The drivers front wheel on closer inspection is also bent slightly. I pretty much need a new set of wheels. They are Chikara LS1 wheels that i have had for a few months. I would say i've driven MAYBE 2,000kms or so on them. Really can't believe what happened, i know their reps and everything but i am still shocked. I'll have to contact 88Rotors on here and see if theres anything that can be done about it. I think i'm done with reps! I made a thread about me being bored of these wheels a few weeks ago, guess ill have to find a new set sooner then i thought! Live and learn guys Pics..

I've heard nothing but bad things about Chikara's. I think somewhere on this forum there is a famous picture of a cracked rim by them.
Maybe getting Linea Corse rims would be better. |

well there is no spare compartment in our cars! I think you also need a 17" or bigger spare just to clear the brakes on a 335i. I wish i would have held onto the OEM set that the car came with. I would have just switched them over in the middle of no where. Hearing the noise of that broken wheel as the car moved trying to get it into the garage was one of the worst sounds i've ever heard.

I guess this serves as a warning to those who trade in their OEM wheels when they get a new set- always be prepared for the worst!
Good luck and hopefully you'll find an even better set!

Your car is so tastefully done -- so why run reps?!

Damn, that sucks... sometimes it's just the way you hit it can cause such sever damage. Glad you're ok.

dang that's harsh, but off-topic, is it just me or are the cutouts on your quad diffuser mismatched? the left seems rounder while the right seems for rectangular.
