I didn't get an intake, because of our exhaust. With a high flowing exhaust a CAI could cause loss of power, just my .02. Too much air is a bad thing, loss of back pressure is a reality with the N52 as well, which is why I'm throwing on a Magnaflow muffler next week and high flow cats.

So instead keep the factory air box and do scoops (gain @ high MPH), delete the charcoal filter, delete the silencer, and drop in a K&N or aFe oiled filter. Also while you are at it clean your MAF. Dyno proven, and I have no idea where the dynos are hopefully the member who did them still exists lol.

Go with an afe CAI. Thats what Ive got on mine and I absolutely love it. Not only does it give some mild gains, and a little better throttle response, the sound is great. By far my favorite mod. Throw some scoops with and and you will be good to go.

And with the too much air comment... I would think the more air in the better? Only experience I have heard with losing power is the Dinan TB which is up for debate among people. However, I could be wrong, but when I got my afe intake I definitely felt a gain in power.

With M/D and a CAI you will see a loss.

BTW how do you like the Top Speed? Also which model is the Top Speed I need a muffler...

Yea, I have heard you lose power with MD. As for the top speed I absolutely love it. Paired with the intake it sounds great. Not that loud however. When you stand on it, it is, but around town and while your at low RPMs it is a very nice deep tone. I just got finished breaking it in. Id say I have about 400-500 miles on it. Tone definitely changed a bit. Its great. However, the afe intake is so loud that it usually masks the exhaust note. Buddy of min told me that when you are behind me, all you hear is exhaust and its perfect. (coming from a guy who has cat less straight pipes on his 540 msport with a new V8 in her. Needless to say his is loud as hell).

I am thinking about deleting the res. But I dont know. I dont want it to be too loud, but would like a little more throaty sound. Dont wanna piss the neighbors off though. Hope that helps...

Are you serious? So a BMW Performance air intake + performance exhaust

+ a BMS Powerbox = LESS power on my 2009 328xi? It sure doesn't feel like it..
