Pre-Oiler - Worth it or Waste of Money?

A friend of mine was singing the praises of installing a pre-oiler and how it can vastly decrease an engine's normal wear & tear that occurs during engine start.

Is this a solution for a problem the bimmers don't have? I've heard the oil pump in Bimmers are extremely effective and sends oil to the engine so quickly that the pre-oiler would not serve much purpose. I've also heard that pre-lubing NEVER hurts and is a wise investment for ANY engine.

I'd like to hear this community's take on it.

Thanks in advance!
