New 335i, golf tee mod, can't tell if it worked :)
I bought a 335i today and then did the golf tee mod, but instead of a golf tee I used zip ties and I cannot tell the difference at all! I used three medium sized ties and cranked them ass hard as I could. I would post a video, but it's 0130...
Did I not tighten it enough? Or is the sound that minimal that I can't tell in the drivers seat. Pics loading. Last edited by Alexander; 05-26-2010 at 12:39 AM.. |

1. start the car
2. go outside and put ur hand on the both exhaust tips (forgot if it was left or right one that is inactive from butterfly valve) 3. if fumes are blowing from both tips golf tee mod is complete. 4. if one muffler is not active you failed all the best.

glad to help, you should cut off the excess zip tie. also i didn't use zip tie cause i thought it would burn off anyway. your best bet is to remove the line (just pulls out) and stick a ball bearing in there (forgot what size, can be found in my ss review in my sig) and plug the wire back in. simple and no worries.

I just unplugged the actuator in the trunk: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80661
It throws a code but I have the BT Tool so I just use that to clear it if necessary. You should be able to tell the difference on cold starts especially. I recorded a couple of videos: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=367595 |

Why not just do the golf tee mod as it's supposed to be done? I think that's going to be a real PITA when you have to cut those zips as you might clip the vacuum hose and cause a leak... Just sayin. Use a ball bearing or just buy an exhaust...

Agreed, I stuck a BB in the hose and shoved the hose back on there and it worked perfectly. Can't even tell and everything is plugged in.

Congrats on the car man!
The golf tee mod is nice, but the sedan has a extra resonator compared to the coupe and is a bit more quiet, i suggest cutting out that resonator or getting the E90 BMW performance exhaust, or any exhaust for that matter asap |

Yeah I'll do something down the road. Sucks on the extra resonator. I'll just cut it out. Do I need a Y-pipe? or is it a single inlet to single outlet?

Well it acts as a x-pipe within the resonator, the coupe has a small X-pipe instead of the resonator... You can cut it out, most aftermarket exhausts are just fully divorced with no connecting pipes.

Throw up some vide when you get it done man, would love to hear it... Rims already made the car looks awesome, is that on stock suspension?
BTW, you only neede done zipt tie no much force going threw the line.. find a black one to get that clean look, and tuck it up and away. |

Helloooo u haven't had the car long enough to have a complaint about the exhuast yet. These mods are to amend nuances with the car that people find somehow.

Dynamic cruise sucks. I know that my car has it but when I tried using it all day 180 miles of highway it just didn't work... Yeah I just didn't like how quiet it was. I'm thinking about doing the DIY BOV, anyone had problems with that, the 3/4" pipe plug and electrical tape... |

I was one of the people that originally trashed this as being dumb...but after having it off for a while and later putting it back on, there's actually a pretty significant difference in sound. Obviously nothing like straightpipes, but the mid-rpm tone does change a bit. Also drove behind a friend in his 335 without it unplugged and you could see the left pipe staying closed for a good amount of the rev range.
Anyway, it's free and easy to reverse....good to go.
