Given that you stalled the car the first time I'm surprised that you like the CDV delete better. Sounds like you just need more practice - keep working it!

Wait, you installed a CDV or you took it out? Or replaced it with a modified unit?

The difference is great, I agree. I drove for a few month without modification. Off cause it is possible to get used to it, but why, it the mode is so simple. Driving is much more enjoyable now..

How difficult is bleeding the clutch? Never had a hydro clutch before. I've already got a short knob and bought a SSK, so the next step is the CDV mod.
Oh, and I was thinking that this might cause issues if you go to a dealership to try and get any warranty trans work done. Other than taking out the CDV, is there any way to tell it's been modded? |

This is key here, because can you imagine going in with a bad clutch claim on your warranty and the dealership takes the 10 minutes to check to see if the CDV has been modified, then denies the warranty claim? Now you're out $2k for a clutch replacement due to a $35 modification. I think it really comes down to whether or not one's particular dealership is savvy enough to know about these modifications, and then bother to check for them in order to assert that the CDV mod is why they're denying the claim. I feel like it's just a gamble, really.

So if the mod is fairly simple wouldn't it be best to just keep the stock CDV in a drawer and re-install if you are going in for any clutch/transmission related work?

I'm sure it is...don't have to crawl underneath the car...bleed the line etc. However, the likelihood of them finding an installed tune during routine mx is fairly high (especially if you don't clear codes), whereas, them finding the modified CDV for anything other than clutch/tranny work is practically nil.

I just installed a modified valve in my car today. Install was simple. But, bleeding the clutch was a little bit of a pain; although, I think that was my fault. I didn't realize that you had to have the brake fluid resevoir practically full in order for the clutch system to get fluid. So, I ended up pulling in air the first couple of times I tried to bleed the system. Once I figured out my error, it was pretty smooth going.
I've only driven it briefly since doing the mod, but the shifts seem much-improved. As for a dealership noticing, I purchased a modified valve from Bavarian Autosport, so it looks exactly like the stock valve. Without taking the line apart, I don't think there's any way for anyone to tell. |
