Just saying hello. After using this forum's archive for a couple of weeks I realize I'm surrounded by a good crowd - thank you for the information. I bought a used 2007 titanium silver e92 328i. I think it has every option except adaptive steering and adaptive cruise. Coming from a 2001 VW golf with a 2.0 liter I was originally going to buy a new GTI. I always planned on looking at a more 'upscale' sport coupe after I finish professional training in 5 years or so but a friend convinced me to just drive this car because it was a good deal (2007, $23,000 even, 42,000 miles). I knew that buying a used car in place of a very nice new one (GTI) was irresponsible but the feel of this damn car was so special. Realizing I will not live forever, I threw caution to the wind and bought the car. My girlfriend has a GTI so if I get the itch I can play with hers.

Not sure, but I'm guessing the ZSP is sport package? ZHP......I have no idea. It'll come with time.

One of most fascinating aspects of the car is how soft the suspension feels in context of seeming so low to the ground. It's very nice and I have been a more relaxed individual since owning this car. I had race springs and koni yellows on a 2.0 liter golf for almost ten years so I'm used to a back-breaking ride along with more grip than my engine could possibly break loose.

One unsettling thing is that this car tramlines terribly. It has Dunlop direzzas' on the rear and Bridgetone Potenza on the front. Both have at least half tread left but one end has to go and it's gonna be the runflats.

Moving from DC to Phoenix tomorrow and decided to drive. Why would I pay someone to ship this thing when I can drive it ?

Just graduated and starting a job in Pheonix. Will be there for a year followed by 3 years in L.A.. For a New Englander this will be a big change but there's lots of sun to look forward to.

ZHP: Performance Package offered with the e46 330i/ci (starting in 2003). IMO, a step up from the Sport Package, but not quite ///M status.

Congrats on the purchase and great color combo. So glad to see you got 6MT, especially with the 328i.

Knowing this board, you guys probably would have never let him hear the end of it if he got an AT with his 328

Thanks. After driving an old 2.0 L VW engine with 120hp I got used to winding a car when driving......well, anywhere. This engine actually makes good noises as the revs build and the power is so linear. It's great how this engine actually get smoother as it revs higher; you can feel it through the shifter.

Having the turbo turns this thing into such a unique combination, mixing engineering, handling, and beauty with the rear wheel drive and power of a musclecar. But I enjoyed the normal aspiration version so much and would rather avoid some N54 difficulties that may arise with higher miles. Also, I now have something to look forward to in 5 years - possibly a next gen 3 coupe with more power.

mike, I had a ZHP, E46 330i. Car was super fun. Had to sell it thinking I was going to get an e92 or E90. Didn't work out because my workhorse took a dive. So I had to buy a 2.5L jetta. But when you are in calif, you are more than welcome to hit me up.
