trading in my 328i
i want to trade in my e92 328i, obviously for an e92 335i. it's a 2007 with 21k miles on it treated like a baby.
would i be able to somehow swap it for a 335i with higher mileage (no money on top). is that possible? if not, how much would i have to add? |

335i is a good 8,000-10,000 more than a 328i as far as value goes right now.
I just traded my 328i in for a 335i. Now what the dealer says is different. Dealers expect buyers not to know the difference of 328s and 335s. One dealer in Atlanta tried BS'ing me about a E92 328 telling me that it was faster than a 335i sedan, because they wanted to sell me the E92. I asked how so? They go oh well it's a coupe, coupes are much much faster than the sedans. I go, ok how so? They have more power, because they are sportier. I go ok how do they have more power? It's just how BMW does it. Ok so you are telling that this E92 with a N52 is faster than this E90 with a N54. I6> TT I6??? So be prepared to deal with BS, but no you won't find a deal that close, especially with taxes and stuff. |

Not going to happen, unless the 335 has/had something wrong with it and/or it's very high mileage.

^ Lol edit that shit.
No dealer will just let you trade without them making a solid chunk of change. Dealers know that they could just save themselves the trouble and low ball you, relying on your desperation of getting a 335i. Now yes E92s do have a higher value than Sedans. My local dealer is selling E92 328's for more than E90 335's with the same options and miles. It's crazy. People just don't realize the huge difference between the two (N52, N54). I tried buying a E90 335i at one dealer and they didn't have any... so he goes well here is the coupe. It's faster than the sedan! As I stated in my early post, people believe this shit. I worked for Audi btw, so I know a little bit of the biz. |

OP, sorry about the smartass remark but I hope you see how much of a ridiculous question you asked.
As others have said base to base there's at least a $6K difference, or more depending on options. There is no possible way for you to "even trade" in an 07 328 with low miles for an 07 or greater 335. Maybe if the 335 had 100K+ miles, out of warranty, wrecked, run-down etc.... but then you have to ask yourself, is it even worth it? Best advice I can give is just private sell your 328. You said you keep it immaculate and it has low miles, use that as your selling point. Put an add in the paper/classifieds and see what happens. At the worst case scenario trade it into the dealer for a 1-2 yr/old CPO 335.

when you trade your car you get significantly lower so the dealer can turn it around for profit, if you sold it you would make more money just take more time...trading it you lose money for time and hastle

My guess? They're going to rake you on the trade, and try to make a profit off the CPO. It's a lose-lose scenario, and if they give you a higher trade for your car keep in mind it's sale tactics. They either give you more for your trade or take off more from the top end. They don't do both. Like I told the OP, the best thing is to private sell. In the end you'll typically turn a much larger profit. With the market these days dealers don't want trades, they want cash. With cash you have more bargaining power.
