Looking for Advice - Passenger Airbag Sensor

Hey Everyone -

My passenger side airbag sensor in my 2006 325xi seems to randomly go off and turn off the airbag when people sit in that seat. I took my car in for service twice on this issue while it was still under warranty, both times this was "solved" by them resetting the code.

It has now happened again and I am now out of warranty (about 9,000 miles out). I did some research online and apparently almost every other 2006 but mine had this sensor recalled.

Is there anything I can do to not have to pay a ton of money out of pocket to have this fixed being that I took it in twice under warranty and they did nothing to fix it or am I just SOL?

They should be able to fix the sensor under their honor since they failed to do so twice.

Very same here. I was going to post the same thread too.

Let me know how you resolve your problem. Im going to call the dealer soon and find out what they can do. This seatbelt light on the dash is quite annoying..

+1, go to the dealer. They really should goodwill that since you reported it to them multiple times before the warranty was up.

If your car is part of the recall (Based on VIN), the mileage does not matter. My seat mat sensor was replaced last year with around 110K miles on the odo. I'm the second owner and did not buy through a dealer. BMW of Peabody replaced it without charge to me, gave me a loaner for a week (backordered part) and treated me as if I just bought the car there. Very professional and much appreciated.

Thanks Everyone

I am going to stop by the dealer tomorrow after work and speak to the service manager and see what they have to say. I will report back.
