Drivers door alignment ?
I have just scheduled my 1 year oil change and service and I have a few items that I need to get taken care of.
My driver’s door is out of alignment. I really notice it if I look through the mirror when I am sitting in the driver’s seat because the shadowline trim on the door where the window comes out does not align with the left rear door. I have included pictures and the door seems to be higher than the left rear door. on the oppsite side of the car the doors seams look fine and the seam above the rocker panel for both doors is the same! When I look at the seam that is created at the bottom of the doors (where the side skirt/rocker panel is) the drivers door is higher than the left rear door. I bought the car new. I did a Euro Delivery and the car has always been in BMW’s care ( I did a PCD for redelivery in the states) so it never saw my dealer before I got it back. The car has never been in any accidents. I noticed it while were in Germany but never really raised a fuss because it was my new car but, over time is has gotten to me. I am a little OCD with my cars so some people understand. I did not pay $40,000 to get a car with a misaligned door! Has anyone had this happen? If so what did the dealer do to fix the problem? I have seen this a few times on new E90’s on the dealers lot on the lot so I guess it’s a common problem. Here are my pictures! this is what I can see when I sit in my car. This pic. sux because it is hard to see due to the reflections drivers door left / left rear door right side notice the seam at the botten and the slight difference top of door down the line more drivers left / passanger right Thanks for looking |

Well I saw a similar problem with my cupe 335, the driver's door was a little bit off. I was worried since it is a 2008 unit, I tought maybe was involed in some kind of accident. Checked with the dealer, no accidents were reported, then I saw the same kind of missalignment on brand new coupe. I just stoped worrying about it, or maybe I should ask the dealer about it?

Well I put 600 miles on the car from my Euro Delivery and then abother ~700 miles driving it back to Buffalo with a stop in 3 day stop Virginia. I store the car for the nasty Buffalo winters. So I just passed 5,000 miles last week. I do not drive it long distances to work is only 14 miles round trip! But it does get out to stretch its legs every once in a while
However I Just changed the oil at 4,500 miles when I took the car out of storage on 3/17/10. The oil was pretty clear! |

I think my door needs some alignment as well. I've notice a lot more wind noise recently.

YES you need a door alignment BAD, my drivers door had a 1/4" gap between the front fender and drivers door, they called in a body shape guy to come out and eyeball it into place. It looks better but still about 1/8" gap, but it matches the other doors
