Anyone have the PowerBox on N51 Engine?
Just like the title says, does anyone have the powerBox tune on their N51 engine. I'm considering purchasing one.
It would be cool to see some Dyno numbers, or any other metric to compare. |

Sweet, I've read your other posts w/ roll on acceleration times, etc. This def makes me want to look into the Pbox soon. (and the drop in air filter). Have you made it to the dyno yet?? I'm dying to see the umbers off an N51.... See my next post for why.

I meant to post a lot more in the orginal post. I've been scrolling throught the 3er forum, and found some info on the 325/328 to 330 conversion.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=372973 Looking at the list of parts required for the conversion I realized those are the parts specific to the N51 in the 128i I have... The major parts look to be the same, and the only major difference I see is the need for a ECU upgrade..... enter the BMS PowerBox (maybe) So did BMW just put a 265HP engine in the SULEV 128i and detune it??? |

Hmm tough to say, but an interesting thought. There could be any small number of differences that are critical. In any case, I can tell you I've been very pleased with the Pbox. I don't really think about it being there day-to-day, but the other day I shut it off just for kicks (went to map "0") and it felt like somebody threw out the anchor. I don't care that much of the improvement is "only" throttle response and not big power gain, because in the environment where I do much of my driving (secondary and country roads), it makes the car so much more enjoyable.
That said, there is some power gain, and I'd like to augment that with more air - but don't want the awful rice noise of an Injen or the expense of the BMWP intake. Anyway, good luck with your car. |
