How much did you pay for Keyfob replacement? (lost one)

I lost my key fob. I think I need to get it replaced. Just two days ago, I paid $170 to open my car. Stupid me, I opened the trunk, locked the doors, left the keyfob in the trunk, took my golf club out and closed the trunk. I don't know why but I have this weird habit of locking the door after I open the trunk. This is the second time (first time it happened, I had the second key fob).

So, those of you who lost their key fob(s), how much did you have to pay? I plan on calling my dealership to order one for me, but I don't want them to rip me off. Is there like a universal set price for the key fob replacement or varies by dealers?

thanks.

p.s: Of course I did my search, but I want newer results. It seems like most paid anywhere from $400~$800.

I think I paid around $400+ for the key fob, key, and programmed for Comfort Access.

How are you guys paying only ~$200 for the keyfob?? Hook up a brother. My dealership is asking $500 programmed. I don't have CA if that makes any difference.

You can buy a used fob but it cannot be re-programmed, else there would be many posts about stolen BMWs.

for people trying to save money without doing proper research.

I believe the car can only have 10 total keys programmed. Once a key is programmed, it is locked to that car.

I think is can only have 2 keys programmed at a time as well, so if you lose one, and get a new one reprogrammed it cancels the old key (but that old key still cannot be used in the future).

It should cost about 170 if you don't have comfort access and about 240+ if you have comfort access. I just got mine without the comfort access.

+1

If you don't have CA, just buy the replacement FOB and no programming is necessary I believe.

Do you have comfort access? If my memory serves me correctly the manual says that one cannot lock their CA fob in the trunk. I've been meaning to test this but haven't tried it yet.

You guys are paying so cheap. Did it include key fob and programming?

I don't have CA.

Key

I paid:
Programming + Remote key + blade + tax = $168 (no CA)
Shouldn't the price be the same at any dealership?
