jb3

i've decided to get jb3 but was just worried that it might void my warranty.
so here are the things:

if you know a guy who sells jb3 for a cheaper price (i need pnp) then let me know,
and if you know whether jb3 will void my warranty or not, please let me know.

thanks

JB3 can be removed before servicing.

Make sure you dont pass Map5, if you are really worried buy a BT cable from bavarian technic so you can clear any tuner codes that might be tune related that might void your warranty and make sure to remove the tune prior to any service visits.

Read up on it more, always good to have knowledge of what your buying.

post in the Forced Induction section, You'll get much better answers there regarding the Juice Box 3

Now to answer your questions:

Search the buy/sell/trade sections of the forums you might find a used jb3 there.

Now the JB3 will void your warranty IF your dealer finds it when you take it in for service. Some dealers care, some dont; either way i wouldn't take my chances and i would remove it before service every time and also delete any codes it may have tripped with the BT tool.

if you remove the JB3 and delete the codes they will have a very tough time finding any evidence that you had a jb3 in the car. And unless you go in for blown turbos or something of that nature they won't even be looking for that. (if its just an oil change)

With the jb3 if you run the lower maps (anything under 6) you probably wont throw any codes. but as with any modification to the car i recommend uninstalling it and returning the car to stock before taking it to the dealer.

hope that helps

i have a JB3 and always run Map 3. Map 5 is recommended with higher octane fuel and other modifications. Although you can probably run Map 5 on regular fuel, I simply don't take any chance. Only other add-on I have is a aFe DCI Stage 2. If I pump higher octane gas then I'll run Map 5, other than that, I don't see any reason you should. It could potentially throw codes and unless you have access to a BT cable it will come up when you take it into BMW.

I recently removed both my JB3 and the DCI in about 1 hour prior to taking it in for HPFP replacement. It is a no brainer once you install it. I could have not taken it out, I just didn't want to risk it. The way I see it is you take your car in for something on average once every 6-12 months, an hour of my time reinstalling it is worth every minute of joy I feel with my car with the JB3. You shouldn't be driving this car without it!

Just remember that pay to play motto. If you are really worried about your warranty, you can do as these people say. Just don't be mad at BMW if they find out and void your warranty.
