350Z owner looking to trade for 2011 335i coupe
Hey guys, I am a current 350Z owner and am looking to trade for a 2011 335i coupe in white on red. After nearly 5 happy years with the Z, I am looking for something new and have pretty much decided on the 3-series.
I have been in love with the 335 ever since it came out, and with the recent refresh and easy performance upgrades for easy power, it is a no brainer. I am looking to get one within the next 6 months or so and am here to learn more about the car. Meanwhile, here is a pic of my Z as she is right now. |

I'm pretty sure you're doing it wrong. Your Z should look similar to this, no exceptions:
(skip to 0:30 btw) [u2b]<object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ibG7N-CGa3U&hl=en_GB&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ibG7N-CGa3U&hl=en_GB&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>[/u2b] |

Welcome. Unfortunately, you won't learn too much about the 3 series here. It's mainly a place for people to bitch about HPFP or how their dealer screwed them, or debate about which is better: leasing or buying or which car is better looking: sedan or coupe, or ask meaningless questions such as what you've named your car or how you feel about the recent passing of one of the Golden Girls.
But there's a few threads and a few very knowledgeable folks (BK, etc.) where you can learn something. |

Thanks guys. I would love a 335is, but it might be a little out of my price range given that it is 7-8k more than the regular 335i. With that price difference, I would rather spend it on mods.

Beautiful car you have there. If you do a search, I think there are some comparisons between the 350Z and 335i.
I drove a Z before the 335i. The decision was easy. My neighbor also upgrade from a Z convertible to a 335i sedan and hasn't looked back. The decision between 335i and Corvette was a bit tougher, but I'm happy I went with the bimmer. Your 335 will be quicker, have more tuning potential, look classier, attract less attention from the cops, and be far more practical and comfortable day-to-day. It will, however, be more expensive to repair and maintain once the four years of service and warranty run out. Seems like a good trade to me Last edited by carve; 06-03-2010 at 11:46 PM.. |

Nice Z. Love it. 350Z has always been my favorite. New Z is overdone.
Considering what you're looking for in a car, you will definitely enjoy 335. Until HPFP happens. Sell it around 119k, you should be fine.

If you're serious about mods I would consider getting a used/CPO model that has the N54 engine. The new 2011 has the N55 engine which is more like a single turbo and so far there hasn't been a lot of mod support for it that I've seen. The new 335iS retains the N54 engine though because it was easier for BMW to squeeze a bit extra HP from the engine.
That's a great looking Z... Always liked the 350z. You will love the 335 though.

very clean looking Z man, I have 335i white on red and I love it. Yours will be an 335is which is even better. I can promise you won't be disappointed.

The 2011 has the new single turbo N55 motor, so if it's easy mods/power you're after you should be looking at a used 335i or a new 335is with the twin turbo N54 motor. The N55 doesn't really have an aftermarket yet as 2011s have just started to reach owners' hands right now. It will probably be a while before mods come out, and even then the power potential of the N55 remains to be seen.

Thanks for the info fellas. I did not know that about the new 335's, that only the 335is has the twin turbo and not the regular 335i with the single turbo.
I will definitely look into the 335is though. Such a beautiful car. Is the M-Sport package already included on the 335is? I do not see an option for that as I am pricing it out on Edmunds. |

Keep the Z and Turbo that thang. I've always like the body style of the 350z it will be awhile before that design gets old. If you want the 335is get it with the M package.

find a 2010 M sport coupe with the N54, you won't be disappointed. And with the money you save from not getting the 335is, you can put massive hp numbers on the 335i. Do IT!
