N54 --> N55, Any Interchangeable performance parts?

Is there any parts that can be carried over to the new engine? Obvious things like downpipes can't but how about the intercooler, intake, chargepipe, tune, etc....??

the engines are completely different, nothing can change over. Suspension and body wise you're free.

Edit: OEM parts cant be interchanged but aftermarket intercooler will work but you will probably have to do some custom pipping for it to connect into the charge pipe.

^+1, possibly.... eh, probably. No reason to change the tooling or location on the OEM intercooler from the N54 from BMW's standpoint.

BMS has a new tune/hardware platform coming out for the N55 so their N54 tunes are not compatible. The intakes are also not compatible as the N55 has a whole new airbox, MAF, etc, to contend with. Early testing on a new intake resulted in poor results so the primary focus is on tuning now. And the car has responded very well to tuning. Not as well as an N54 but huge improvements over stock.

I know the BMW Performance exhaust is the same from the 135's, not 100% sure on the 3.

It would be interesting if the exhaust manifold could be interchangeable-would make a single turbo swap a little easier.

Who knows, I'm sure someone ingenious enough to do it eventually.

The IC looks like it could easily be replaced by an N54 FMIC, might take some doing, but looks pretty much the same... I'm going to have ------ attempt to hook up their FMIC onto my N55 X5 when it comes in, if it's a sucessful fit, everyone should be able to follow suit. No I will not name the Manufacturer of the FMIC, just be patient and wait for an update...

No go, from what I saw... It would have to be a Single Cone Filter, Most likely would need a dry (no oil) filter element... But As Mike (and Terry) have stated on this site and N54tech, their attempts at an intake system met with a loss of 30hp i believe...

I'm curious as to know how many cats we have on the N55 as well... And if the Cell count is known on them...

Are you sure? Exhaust I would think would be interchangeable.

Sometimes I wonder about people....

Is the SSK attached to the engine? No! It is attached to the transmission. So, if the N55 equipped cars have the same transmission as cars with N54 engine, then this will work.

Let me guess. People will ask next if the CDV mod will work on N55.

Except BMW is not currently offering the ssk for n55 laden vehicles, all 2011s, so you have to wonder. Your premise is not necessarily correct, (though I suspect the old kit will fit) there may be simple mounting issues for the old SSK and BMW is currently (or not) developing new hardware that fits in the LCI cars. Either way tischer's site is not LCI/Non-LCI specific so I couldn't confirm anything on this...
