Dinan Throttle body
New Guy,
Just got a 328i about a month ago, love the car. Just was looking at Dinan stuff and was wondering if the 330I Throttle Body that Dinan has will fit the 328i. Just wondering since there the same motor from what i understand. Thanks |

Its a waste of money for your 328, there are many more options that will yield more power, for cheaper then the throttle body.
Your a TO local? Im in Simi, Id love to help you out with any question for mods, just dont get a Dinan TB lol |

I recommend you get a BMS Powerbox instead. Or if you have the money for it, you can do the Gintani tune or a 3 stage manifold swap+tune.

I have been contimplating getting this thing for forever. I have read extensively about it. in the end, its really not worth it I dont think. Unless its with a full exhaust system and intake. still for 400 bucks plus shipping you get maybe 4-5 hp... I would focus on other things. AKA the Gintani tune, intake, exhaust, or weight reduction.
hope that helps....

the BMW Performance exhaust+intake = Great idea.
strut brace = waste of money Do sway bars instead. BMS Powerbox - Genius, safe, reliable mod, and for the money - the perfect entry level tuner. Ill drop you a pm with some info. |

I have the Dinan TB on my 330. I installed it with the Dinan CAI (very similar set-up to the E9X M3) and their exhaust.
It takes our cars about 100 miles to adjust to mods. My car definitely pulls harder on the top end. Dinan lists all the engine mods that I have as putting out 270hp (up from 255). I haven't dynoed the car, so I don't know. It definitely helped the car. I'm not sure about the 328 though. Dinan also has a 4 year - 48K warranty on their parts. As for the BMW Performance intake - BMW lists it as adding 3hp.

KSFrogman has dyno comparisons with and without the Dinan TB. I am pretty certain the gains were negligible (possibly even a loss of power at certain RPMs)
Do an OEM 330/328 TB part # comparison at RealOEM to confirm Dinan TB fit. I agree with the other posters in regard to better gains through alternative methods. Ecu tune, Diff swap, and possibly (e90)330 3-stage intake manifold conversion are your best bet for improved power/accel/TQ/throttle response GL and let us know what you decide |

I think I'm going to go with Craven's ideas. Unless there is other tunes or performance mods better then what i got here.
-BMW Performance exhaust+intake = Great idea. -sway bars instead. -BMS Powerbox - Genius, safe, reliable mod, and for the money - the perfect entry level tuner. Ill drop you a pm with some info. Do have a question on Rims & Tires. Which is a good size and which looks the best as far as color. I have a White 328I. |

^ talk to Craven about that as well... he will set you up nicely with all of that.
I would recommend some CSLs. But talk to him and he will give you options.

just a thought, if you do get the throttle body, you have to get a before and after dyno to show us if it does help or not.
ksfrogman did but that was a long time ago, and this mod might actually help, jsut noone has pulled the trigger on it... so I think you should.

Maybe I will , I'm not sure yet and it might be fun to do for shits and giggles.
I have the BMS Power Coming Next week and the BMW Perf. intake coming also. When i deside to put the exhaust on maybe i will order a throttle body also and see what happens. Maybe see if Craven wants to do a test run on the throttle body with me to see what happens unless he has already did it. I will keep you guys posted if and when i do it. |

please do this. If there are proven gains with it... I will absolutely buy it. I need proof before I do. If I had access to a dyno for cheap I would, but I dont.
So, please get the TB.

If i can get 5hp out of it for $400.00 i think ist's worth it. Every little bit helps in trying to get hp out of the car. We will see what happens. Maybe I will see if it will work with the BMW Performance Intake.

I think the euro air box is a more cost effective mod over the performance intake. I'm convinced it's the same thing minus the k&n (can be bought for 50 bucks) and the fancy carbon fiber piece.

there has to be a dyno out there somewhere? lol
but the Dinan is 399$ + 325 core fee. so 725$ out of pocket to even think about trying it. + downtime of your car, + the wait for dinan to refund your money after you send them your stock TB back. = not worth it. |
