They tried to kill us!

LOL so Matt and my friend Christina and I went out to this restaurant and they both ordered blended drinks. I was drinking some of Matt's and I kept getting strawberry seeds in my throat and it hurt really bad. Then Christina started choking and finally Matt looked at the bottom of his drink and there were shards of glass in it! The manager paid for our meal, and said when we come back the bill is on them, so basically we eat there for free now, that is if you want to go back.

Haha... true. Of course forum etiquette dictates that when a girls name is mentioned pics should accompany the post... I'm just saying.

BTW... I would flip. Undercooked meat or a hair is one thing, but shards of glass?!? That can't be good. Time to take advantage of the sweet sweet litigious USA and lawyer up for a cash settlement.

Glad everyone is OK - not to sound alarmist, but if anyone actually ingested broken glass shards, there is a possibility of internal esophageal cuts and as a result internal bleeding, which may not be immediately obvious to anyone. I know that doctor visits cost money out-of-pocket in the US, but if there is a doubt, perhaps a Dr. visit may be best.

(PS is this back on topic enough.....)

nice try, i see how you tried to take a jab at US medicine! sneaky but there's a reason why when canadians get bad sick they come to the US. socialized medicine sounds like a good idea but it doesnt work out that way. any doctor worth a damn from canada comes to the US. why?? so he can get paid what he deserves. and why is medicine so cheap in canada? because the drug companies are able to make their profit in the US.

Sorry for the !!

Um, I don't think it was an intentional jab just a fact....

Personally I'd prefer to pay for a visit than spend half the day in a waiting room for one anyway.

Ehhhhh relax buddy, breathe through nostrils and step back from the keyboard for a few moments. There was no jab intended. Here, where the cost is siphoned off MY very hard earned dollars, unfortunately, people go to the doctor like they go to Wallmart, just to see what's up. So I was merely trying to be sensitive to the US system, which is more along the pay as you use method and where, I assumed, people think twice before going to the Dr. to complain about a bad complection.

BTW I will not even bother to comment on the rest of your rant

I think Kingbriani needs a time out. Maybe he didn't get his nap this afternoon? or maybe he's teething.

I don't think any of us ingested enough the foreign material in the drinks to be in danger.

The management was under the impression it was plastic, and not glass, and I'm slightly inclined to agree, just based on texture.

It wasn't really sharp, like glass. I called it glass at the time, but in retrospect I think was more like a hard clear plastic.

I'm not worried about my health, or Nikki's or Christine's, from this encounter. However, if Nikki feels unsure, a trip to the doctor would not be absurd.

I doubt a doctor could really do anything anyway... except maybe give some precautionary advice.

hmm, i didnt get a nap today.. that could be it, but then again i never get a nap so probably not. actually its probably that my girlfriend has been sick the last few days. can you say "alienation of affection"?? i do find it refreshing however that a couple of canadians here have well-thought out viewpoints on social issues. i guess if this forum attracts a more conservative-minded crowd. i'm used to canadians/europeans, etc. having a more liberal mindset on most issues and find it frustrating trying to talk with them when they refuse to look at a subject objectively and with common sense.
