Calling all NA I6 guys! Getting a E92 2011 330i.
A question to all you NA I6 guys...
A week ago i had an accident (was too shocked to remember to take pics) and my insurance company is gonna get me a new car. On Friday i go and order a 2011 E92 330i Msport in AW. Am i nuts? I seriously think the 330i is superior to the 335i if youre not the tuning type (which im not). I get the feeling that no one on this earth would go from 335i to 330i if they had the choice? Am i making the right decision here? My main reasons for getting the 330i is the top end rev hungry feeling, throttle response (which, if we're honest is not up to snuff in the 335i) and reliabillity. Guess you all know the specs of the euro 330i but its a 268hp (272 metric hp) and it feels really strong - love that 6700 rpm peak of power Btw, i wasn't injured in my accident... Thanks to BMW build quality. |

i would love to get a euro specd 330 if i had the choice, and in an e92!? even better lol. Those euro specd 330s have a pretty good amount of power for a NA. I say go for it since u aren't into the tuning and 268 hp is more than enough for daily driving and to have fun with

Without a doubt the NA is significantly less responsive than the 335. You will most likely miss the extra ponies coming from the tt. But IMHO during daily driving there is no noticeable difference
I support the NA version for 3 reasons: A) superior reliability B) lighter nose weight C) keeping with a traditional smooth revving BMW NA I6 Now I guess the real question is 6spd manual or automatic I would take the NA 6spd over the twin turbo auto any day of the week. |

I would take the NA euro-spec 330 over a 335 turbo anyday
330 will have alot less issues in the long run.

Will be hitting 100k within this year on my car, still runs like a charm. Will probably drive way past that anyway. Reliability is one of my top priorities, and n52 didn't disappoint so far.
I don't trust n54 and its reliability. Let's give it 2 or 3 years for most 335i guys to high mileages and then see how the engine holds up. Maybe I'm wrong and n54 is ok. Fuel pump is an obvious issue though. |

330i - order confirmed!
Today my new order for a 2011 E92 330i 6spd manual was confirmed
My insurance company contacted my dealer and everything went well. The total cost or the new car amounted to 98,40 USD less then what the insurance company was compensating me for (cost of a new E90 335i Msport) I'm so damn happy to finally be back in the NA I6 club! No more heat soak, no more lag, no more FI!.. just pure naturally aspirated power! Here's my spec! 2011 E92 AW 330i (272hp / 320Nm Torque) : 6spd manual : Alcantara interior : Msport package : Premium package : 313M 19inch wheels : Aluminum trim : harman/kardon sound system : folding mirrors : USB connection : Tinted rear windows : Performance black kidney grill and other stuff that i cant remember right now... Downside is that i have to wait at least three months to get it.... but its soo worth the wait! Last edited by Manboy; 07-07-2010 at 03:47 AM.. |

Nice choice. I don't think it's crazy at all. I would definitely get a euro 330i if they were offered here in the US. The thought of an E92 330 is amazing to me!

good stuff!
I'd get a 330 over the 335 in an instant, but it might be questionable if I were leasing....but then again you obviously can't deny the feel/refinement/thrill of a I6 that pulls cleanly to redline

I think NA is the way to go, I love my 06 330i
Turbo gives you the option of increasing power, but also increasing problems associated with turbo cars. If I were planning on keeping the car for only the three years it was under warrenty, than turbo, but if i wanted to keep it after that, NA. |

Nice choice! The 330i is the car I really wanted, but it isn't available in my country.
330i is definately the car to have from a reliability point of view. |

Thanks for all the comments guys! I knew I wasn't insane for wanting to ditch the twin turbo. Don't get me wrong, my E90 LCI 335i served me well, I had zero issues during the short period of time I had her BUT.... to be honest, it could never thrill me the way my previous cars did (130i Msport, 330iMsport) and I can't put my finger on it, but the 130i and 330i was just more fun to drive, the throttle response was instant, the engine never ever gets too hot and they always delivered exactly the same performance, hot or cold outside.
I seriously think that heat is the biggest problem with the 335i, it would only allow me to have a minute or so of fun before it ran hot and less responsive. Looking forward to my new car now and sharing pics when it arrives sometime in late August. |

It's only been a week since i placed my order and the wait is already driving me crazy! |
