2009 X3 - Trailer Hitch ??
All,
I called my dealer today, and discovered a BMW OEM trailer hitch and wiring will run me in excess of $1200.00 cdn installed. So, now I'm here There must be a better way. Can anyone share a DIY experience on installing your own hitch package ? What did you use? (OEM or aftermarket) Anything to watch out for ? Did your X3 require dealer programming? (or is this a myth) Where did you purchase, costs, etc .. Love to hear what others have to say about this. I can handle some DIY projects and cannot imagine this being rocket science. I'm fine ordering something in the USA, as I'm only 60 minutes from the border and can run to pick up the parts required. Thanks in advance, K Last edited by Vacek; 07-14-2010 at 12:51 PM.. |

Order one from www.getbmwparts.com and install it yourself. Most of the cost is the installation.

Good luck!

Hitch installation requires cutting of bumper skin - regardless of DIY or dealer. I've yet to see an install where the cut actually looks good or OEM.
Didn't know about the hitch bumper cut requirement until after buying our X3. Ended up with putting a thule on my 3 series to carry the bikes.
