335d woes

Had my 335d for just over a week, 500 miles on the clock and it's already been to my local dealer! I noticed a bulge in the plastic sill below the drivers door. Apparently they say that the clips that hold the drivers side sill in place are faulty/broken and are forcing it out. They can't confirm this yet as they need to order the parts and book it in to have a look.

Thinking everything would be fine if I get that sorted out, over the weekend a vibration/rattle that appears to be coming from the middle vents at the front. This only happens when the car is warm and it increases with revs. Not good and pretty annoying as this is my first BMW! Anyone have any ideas before I visit my dealer again?

Sorry to hear you're having problems after such a short time. Hopefully your dealer can sort them out for you.

I was a little surprised at how flimsy the sills are, when I was cleaning the car last week. They cover quite a large area and do seem to be fairly thin plastic (presumably to keep the weight down).

I don't have any rattles inside yet, though I notice some wind noise from the side windows (compared to my extremely quiet E60 530d).

The downside of frameless windows I'm afraid. My previous car (Alfa GT) had lots of windnoise.

I had exactly the same rattle in my 335D..it turned out to be a piece of plastic under the bonnett rubbing against the strut brace...

The dealer seemed to be aware of it before I took the service engineer out to demo the rattle..

Hope that helps

This shouldn't be the case. The e46 coupe's didn't suffer with additional wind noise in comparison to the saloons.

Isn't that why they have the fancy window lifts that drop and raise the window a few mm when you open and close the door????
