Question 135is + M1

Not sure if this has been discussed before but could both be released at some stage?

Maybe. As long as we get an M engine in a E82 body.

That is highly doubtful. What reason would you have to even suspect it? The 1 series M is a send off for the E82 platform. End of story.

Well I dont think it would necessarily a bad thing. Why would it be? Look at the 3 series for example.

It would be a good profit maker for BMW: to use a slightly boosted version of the N54, new front and rear aprons, a fatter anti roll bar, M bits....hey presto a 135is. Something like the 335is.

But would it sell? Given that the gap between a normal 135i and the M1 will be quite significant (handling + power + aesthetics) it might.

The 335is is simply all of the BMW performance items put on from the factory. I could see them doing it if there wasn't the small gap that it would fill between a 135 and an m.

I don't think there will be much room between the 135i and the M1. People that buy the 135is would always be better off getting and 135i and doing a couple mods or spend a bit extra and get the full works of the M1.

Well Scott has suggested before that next gen 1er may have have Tii or Supersport variant as well as M1 so I doubt there would be room for all three including is but who knows. I suspect the Tii/supersport would be akin to the is in performance and features.

Mark.

Not tbs close in the game for the e82 chassis, maybe the next gen like someone had had Scott eluded to. Thng is the 335iS is more of response to the Audi updated S4/S5, and closes the gap, slightly between 335i and M3---slightly. The 1 series M never really existed before, and really the 135i doesn't really have a competitor here, unless you call the Porsche Cayman one--and the Cayman S is way faster than a 135i with DCT, and they Cayman has a LSD, which a 135i or a 135iS would lack. And basically, the 135iS would only have a slight bump in hp like the 335iS. Basically it wouldn't enhacs the profit margins for BMW, but for those people who love to come out of the woodwork who are pissed that they didn't have the patience to wait for the 1 series, it helps soothe their hurt ego---at the stoplight and at the bank....
Why do you ask?

I can see people getting a 135i, slowly adding all the performance range and slapping an "s" on the end of the "135i" lol

Or, what I think that some on here will do, judging by the comments and odd topics, rebadge their cars as Ms.
I'm seeing a trend of people who either have recently bought a 135i or already have one, who are pissed that their is a M version out. Like it is M Division's fault that they didnt wait, the didn't see the vids that have been out since last Nov....then it was "it's a 'iS'.", just so they that their egos would feel better, even though the handwriting was on the wall. When spy pics showed a LSD, they still cried "iS", and now you still have people asking about a "iS" model, when it was specifically stated that M would send off this chassis.

Think about the Z4 camp, it was stated that there would be no M model for this iteration of the z4...think of how pissed they are that the "top hat" looking 135 with it's frog eyes gets a M version.

Yeah I am a bit confused why they are not making a Z4 M model, like in previous generations. I would (and many others I imagine) buy one if it was competitively priced.

However I got the latest BMW magazine and they pose the question:

"What has 6 cylinders and is as fast as a V8 M3?"

Answer: "The new halo Z4 35is" or something like that.

So even BMW themselves are drawing straight line speed parallels to the mighty E92 V8 M3!
