taking out cats..and such

i was thinking about taking out my cats on the 325i and straight piping but loss of torque scares me as i already lost it taking out the resonator i know i will gain hp but the 325i already has low torque and the only mod that added torque so far for me was pbx so is there anything i could do to gain sound hp and torque?

you didnt lose a single thing by deleting the resonator. only thing you lost was about 15 pounds. thus giving you some power from weight loss. as for the cats... i dunno. you talking secondary or primary? that changes things...

i might be deleting my secondary cats tomorrow or in the near future. I myself don't have a res either. Going to a shop tomorrow to see how much they would charge and I already know they are willing to do it.

well, depending on your state inspection laws you probably will have to have your primary cats. at least in NC I know you have to on our cars. older cars no. so you can delete the 2nd cats. I have heard it gains 5whp and ive heard you lose tq because of loss of back pressure. I have been thinking about this for a while as well. However, the one thing you and I both have going for us is we still have a muffler. so we will maintain some back pressure. But to be honest, I dont know if deleting them will do that much, there is no proven dyno gains on this... You dont need 2nd cats though, so long as you have primary.

If you find something, by all means share it with the forum. I would love to see a dyno, and if there are gains, I would delete them myself.

one thing to keep in mind as a draw back... the gaseous smell of emissions would be a little stronger if you deleted them. meaning when stopped at a light or something, you might smell your gas/fumes a little stronger. some like it some dont. just something to keep in mind.

hope this helps. Ill be watching closely.

650 to install??? fuck that!! if you were local i would do it for you. i plan on doing the install myself, and the o2 sims are easy to adjust. a caveman could do it.

reconsider your options and ability to do things yourself.

Yes. and i have no where near that many mods. 8 dollars an hour can only get you so far... btw i dont know what you were installing blowers on but these new BMWs are no where as easy to mess with as older muscle cars and tuners.
