PBX and service issues

Sitting at the dealership now. They ran a full diagnostics test on my car (scope test) and also had me come in and look at a few things under the car. (different issue)They did not mention the pbx, exhaust, res delete, or intake. so for those of you who are nervous about voiding your warranty... fear no more. Now it could be because they like performance mods, and they were encouraging me to drive my car harder... if thats possible, but, all is good.

so for those of yall who dont know what to do...chip or tune your car to the max. all is well. Figured I would post this for anyone on the fence...

p.s. this was set on map 0.

+1...I am sure if they opened up your ECU box, you would have had an different outcome

I wouldn't not risk leaving a tune in when taking it to the dealer.

First - Why would the dealer go in you ECU box they don't need to. If you are going in for a standard service then they have no need to go in.

Second - If you have the Gintani Tune, the only think you need to worry about is if they do a update flash. Which would kill your tune and you would need to have it re-flashed.

Third - If you have it on MAP 0. They will not notice any Performance or throttle increase.

Yea, I realize not everyone goes to my dealer. thanks for the rock solid logic. I was jsut letting people know that it went fine, as some want to know how service inspections go. and yes, there is no need to open up the ECU box. And I know map 0 shows no codes, but some are still worried about it, so the whole point of this was to show that it doesnt throw codes or anything and that normal service should be fine for those of yall who are worried.

otherwise there isnt a real need to debate this...u

No offense to the above but why would a dealer care about a tune on a 328 car with 230horsepower NA. They are not dumb, they know its not going to be doing much of anything other than the 10hp and throttle response it does. I mean pbx is great but they dont really care about a car with that little hp and a tune unless it is a turbo/FI or you bolted on a supercharger/turbo.

I mean if you want to takeout/rewire that each time than by all means go ahead but its a bit silly.

Well my dealer has been in my cars cpu box, i noticed a clip missing when installing the PBX. I'm taking it out for any engine work... AND yes MOST dealerships will deny your warranty if you have a tune. Oil change, brakes, air filter... it will stay in and on map 0.

Mine went it for faulty parking sensors.
Left it on map 3 (stupid me, forgot to put it back to map 0) and I got lucky the dealer didn't mention anything at all.

I'm taking the car in Monday morning for the stupid car door lock issue that everyone seems to have had. Should I leave my pbx in or yank it out?

Dont worry about it, I had one in my car and the only way that BJ found it was when the popped open the ECU.

The SA told me they couldnt even find it with their scan tools

Lol do not listen to the OP. Just because your dealer didn't care about your exhaust, etc, doesn't mean that another dealer will not care either. A buddy of mine has his warranty voided when they found his JB3.

Ok JB3 is a WHOLE different issue. Of course if you are FI and you crank up the boost, you put the whole engine at risk for much faster wear and obviously bmw wont cover this.

IN a NA car-a tune has no capacity to add much strain on any parts as the ability to add HP/torque is negligble-

It is an apples to oranges comparison of a dealer voiding a warranty

+1. They don't give a damn if its 1 hp or 100. For most dealers (apparently not op) they'll void everything they can to save money.
