CD Preparation
Hi all...
Question regarding CD autochanger. I have just had to sell the changer from my E46 as it in not compatible with the e90. Factory fit units are £300 in the UK but dealer fit is a ridiculous £500. The dealer says that the £200 charge is for fitting which covers a large amount of work re-programming the car and I have heard this also includes the fitting of wires, though not sure of the facts here. The order build lists shows 'CD Preparation £0.00' It should plug in and go as before. I could just about live with £300 but the higher charge is just taking the rip. What is everyones experience. Has anyone retro fitted a CD yet? |

If you have "cd prep" they dont have to fit new wiring, but they have to fit a new side cover so you can access the cd changer, and reprogramme the car for it to work.
Its not quite plug and play, since the CD Changer has to be put onto the MOST network, and it has to relay meassages for other systems on the same network These cars are FAR more advanced than the E46 |

Got your point about the MOST network integration but CD prep should mean just that, surely it should work on connection.
I cant deny I am a bit miffed about this as I bought my previous Autochanger with the intention of carrying it forward and not only have I had to sell it as a huge loss a new one is so expensive it is ridiculous. |
